Mid-Air Chaos: LA to Sydney Flight Turbulence Sends Crew Soaring

Three crew members have been hospitalised after they were launched into the air when a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Sydney hit turbulence this morning.

A Delta Air Lines A350 carrying 245 passengers and 15 crew members experienced a bout of turbulence during its descent but managed to land without incident.

In the aftermath of the unexpected turbulence, Delta reported that while four flight attendants sustained injuries, no passengers were hurt during the event.

New South Wales Ambulance services evaluated five individuals at the scene. Among those assessed, three were transported to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with minor injuries after being “launched into the air” due to the turbulence.

In a statement, Delta Airlines reaffirmed their commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of both their passengers and crew members.

Delta Airlines said the safety of their crew and passengers was their utmost priority. 

“Delta flight 41 from Los Angeles encountered brief turbulence upon descent into Sydney, and four flight attendants reported injuries,” the airline said in a statement.

Flight data showed the Delta aircraft arrived in Sydney at 6.48am today (AEDT) after departing Los Angeles at 10.11pm on Wednesday (local time).

Delta Air Lines operates flights to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to the US.
