A 46-year-old individual confessed to charges of murder and aggravated assault earlier this year in January.
The sentencing hearing, which typically includes testimonies from those who knew the victim, has been scheduled for May 14 in Burnie.
Sushames is expected to appear in court for this hearing.
However, he maintains his innocence regarding the attempted murder of Sergeant Gavin John Rigby, who was present with Constable Smith at the scene.
Constable Smith received a ceremonial farewell with full police honors, including a street procession, as he was celebrated for his dedication to serving the community.
His death was the first fatal shooting of an officer in Tasmania in more than a century.
The beloved cop received several honours, including the Commissioner’s Medal in 2011 and the National Police Service Medal in 2016.
