AUGUSTA, Ga. () – There’s excitement in the air at C&C Gymnastics, and during this segment of Your Hometown Roadtrip, the team paid a visit to chat with the staff and an athlete about their recent achievements.

What is C&C Gymnastics?

“Our facility caters to both recreational and competitive gymnastics. We welcome children as young as 18 months and guide them all the way through competitive levels starting at level 2, up to level 10.”

How long have you been here?

“We’ve been operating from this particular location for four years, but our doors have been open for a decade.”

What are some of the success stories that we’re celebrating today?

“One of the reasons why you’re here is we were voted compulsory club of the year. So, our compulsory club consists of levels two, three, four and five. So, those are going to be your entry level competitive teams. Our level twos train 6 hours a week, and they go all the way up to 15 hours, so they are here a lot. They put a lot of hard work, time and energy in to the sport, and so we had a very successful state meet. Our level twos and threes won, our level fours got second place, and our level fives won, so we won three out of four levels. So, that’s what got us to win compulsory club of the year,” said Co-Owner Cassie Hayden.

C&C is also celebrating another athlete who received two 10’s in vaulting, so we sat down with their Vaulting Coach, Dennis Hayden to find out more.

Who is this athlete and why are we celebrating them?

“This is Kennadi Brown, she’s an amazing athlete, and she scored two 10’s, in two separate meets. One in Georgia, in Augusta, and another one in Florida, and I like to see that because people may say these judges were from Augusta or something you know, but these other judges were elite judges. They were top of the line judges, and so to do it in Florida which is one of our highest and biggest competitors. We’re always trying to beat Florida, we did last year in level 8, and Kennadi was a part of that, where she went 9, 8, 5 on vault, and it was a big reason we won,” said Hayden.

So how long has she been here at C&C? And let’s talk about her journey.

“She’s been here since the beginning, she’s homegrown. which really makes it exciting for Candice and Cassie who are the owners, and for me being their father, it is even more exciting because I get to see it, I get to be a part of it, and so I’m a proud dad, and a proud coach,” said Hayden.

Now, the team couldn’t leave without speaking to Brown herself about the recent accolades.

How does it make you feel that you received two 10’s?

“I’m overly joyed, I never thought that it would happen but you know, dream came true, so boom-bada-bam,” said Brown.

So what are you thinking when they are giving you the score?

“Everyone was screaming and I turned my head and it popped up on the board and I said ‘wait a minute, I got a 10, and then I started going crazy, the coaches, the gymnasts, the whole entire meet was going crazy, and I was jumping with them.”

So, how does that all make you feel?

“I’m overwhelmed by all the success but it’s also like, I worked for it, so I got what I worked for.”

Any thanks you want to give?

“Shout out to everybody, y’all are GOAT’d, especially Coach Dennis, my Vault Coach for helping me, he was always there, and he deserved it, I deserved it, and the outcome came out great.”
