The British royal couple, the Prince and Princess of Wales, stepped out with their three children at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, marking a unique family outing. This special appearance happened on a sunny Saturday, the first day of August.
Royal family enjoys the Commonwealth Games together, a notable family event
Accompanying Prince William and Princess Catherine were their children: Prince George, now 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and young Prince Louis, aged eight. The family took in the thrilling netball semi-finals action, watching Jamaica take on Australia from their seats in the stands.
George and Charlotte appeared enthralled with the action on the court, while Louis – who has earned something of a reputation as the joker of the family thanks to his cheeky behaviour at previous events – looked slightly bored at points, with his head resting on his hands.
The family were stylish as ever for the outing, with Catherine opting for a striped top and pleated skirt with a forest green blazer, while her daughter donned a pretty polkadot dress and wore her hair loose.
The event marked the first official time the children have been seen publicly in Scotland, and was also something of a rarity given that all five family members were out together.
Both George and Charlotte had joined their parents to watch the men’s singles finals at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships last month, while Louis was notably absent.
Saturday also marked the first time George and Louis have attended the Commonwealth Games, although Charlotte made her first-ever solo royal outing with her parents to watch some of the games in Birmingham, England, back in 2022.
In addition to watching the sporting events on Saturday, the royals will also spend time with athletes whose careers have been empowered by the SportsAid charity, of which Catherine has been a patron since 2013.
The family have been making the most of their summer break, which William and Catherine traditionally use to spend time with their children away from their royal duties.
The holiday is even more precious this year, as September will see George start secondary school at Eton College, where he will board full-time.
