Actor and former Doctor Who star Noel Clarke, 50, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure. Metropolitan Police said the alleged offences occurred between 2007 and 2016 and concern five women. Clarke was initially arrested on Thursday, 25 September 2025, after detectives launched an investigation. Following the submission of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, prosecutors authorised the charges. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Wednesday, 21 October.
Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, who is overseeing the Metropolitan Police investigation, said the women involved were continuing to receive specialist support. “The women connected to these charges continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” he said. “We urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to contact police. The information you provide will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity and we have trained investigators on hand to support you.”
The arrest came after Clarke lost a libel claim against The Guardian in August 2025. The case centred on a 2021 report in which 20 women made allegations of verbal abuse, bullying and sexual harassment against the actor.
Clarke has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
On 11 December 2025, the once highly sought-after performer was declared bankrupt after receiving an initial legal costs bill of £3 million connected to the case. The overall bill was expected to rise to around £6 million.

Clarke became widely known to Doctor Who viewers as Mickey Smith, a popular character in the BBC science-fiction series following its 2005 revival. He continued to make appearances in the role until 2010.
Away from the TARDIS, Clarke earned acclaim as the writer, director and star of the teen crime drama trilogy Kidulthood, Adulthood and Brotherhood. His film credits also included the 2013 blockbuster Star Trek: Into Darkness.
During his career, he collected several major honours, including the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performer in 2003 and the BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award in 2009.
BAFTA awarded Clarke its Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema prize in 2021. The organisation later suspended both the honour and his BAFTA membership after women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct.
He has not undertaken substantial work since the original allegations were published.
