ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Rapper Kodak Black will not face criminal charges following his booking at the Orange County Jail earlier this year, court documents reviewed by News 6 show.
The artist, whose legal name is Bill Kapri and who is 28, was arrested in May after deputies accused him of trafficking MDMA.
Authorities linked the arrest to an incident at the Children’s Safety Village on Fairvilla Road in November 2025, according to the affidavit supporting the warrant.
Police responding to reports of gunfire said they located two vehicles at the site. An officer reported smelling recently burned cannabis and searched the vehicles, where investigators found a pink bag containing a substance believed to be MDMA.

Investigators stated in the affidavit that the pink bag appeared to match one displayed on Kapri’s Instagram account. The filing also referenced other items described as paraphernalia, including scissors and a lighter.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement testing identified the material as MDMA and determined the quantity met Florida’s threshold for trafficking, police said. The lab results were returned April 17, 2026.
On Friday, however, prosecutors filed a no-information notice in the Kodak Black case, meaning they chose not to bring formal charges.
The notice said the available evidence was “insufficient to prove possession of contraband.”

Kapri has faced previous legal issues
In 2023, police in Plantation arrested Kapri after finding him asleep at the wheel with white powder around his mouth, officials said. Although authorities said the powder initially tested positive for cocaine, a lab test later revealed it was oxycodone, for which Kapri obtained a prescription.
The arrest was a violation of his probation from an unrelated case, which led to him being locked up in Miami for two months.

Kapri was also arrested in 2022 on charges of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was freed on bond with regular drug testing as a condition of his release. Kapri was ordered into drug rehab for 30 days in 2023 after missing a drug test and then testing positive for fentanyl several days later, according to court records.
In January 2021, then-President Donald Trump commuted a three-year federal prison sentence the rapper had for falsifying documents used to buy weapons. Kapri had served about half his sentence.
As Kodak Black, Kapri has sold more than 30 million singles, with massive hits such as “Super Gremlin,” which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.
