SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A 26-year-old woman is accused of DUI after authorities say her vehicle crashed through a guardrail and fence before plunging into a Seminole County lake.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Maitland Avenue and Lake Shore Drive in Altamonte Springs, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Qualana Pickard, identified by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, was traveling south on Maitland Avenue when she veered off the roadway.

Her vehicle struck a guardrail and a fence before ending up in the lake, FHP said.

Pickard was able to swim from the vehicle and reach safety. She was taken to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, where she was treated for minor injuries, troopers said.

As crews worked to remove the vehicle from the water, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office arrested Pickard, according to troopers.

She is being held on a $1,000 bond.
