A Florida man who described himself online as a life coach and “intuitive healer” is accused of repeatedly stabbing his mother to death at their home, only hours after posting a video about forgiveness, authorities say.
Alexander Harrington, 50, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of his 77-year-old mother at their Delray Beach home. Local CBS affiliate WPEC identified the victim as Susan Baratto.
Harrington called police at about 2 p.m. Friday and said he had killed his mother, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the residence and found Harrington outside.
Inside the home, deputies found Baratto in the living room, covered in blood and suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife was on the ground beside her, authorities said.
Harrington had a cut on his left arm, according to the affidavit. While paramedics treated him, they asked him what had happened.
“I killed my mom,” he allegedly replied.

Detectives later interviewed Harrington. After being advised of his Miranda rights, he allegedly admitted that he stabbed his mother and then called police to report it.
The affidavit does not detail a motive or the events that preceded the fatal encounter. Harrington allegedly told investigators that he has been sober since 2007 and that he had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and is bipolar.
On his Facebook page, Harrington identifies himself as a life coach and “intuitive healer.” A day before the killing, he posted a video in which he called himself “one of Christ’s white knights” and discussed the importance of forgiveness.
“We have to forgive people from our past,” he said. “[I]f you don’t open up your heart to heal, you’re going to make the same mistakes over and over again. And you’re not going to be a happy camper… I wrote down the name of everyone who ever hurt me and forgave them all.”
Harrington remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond. His next court date is set for Nov. 5.
