Selena Gomez appeared uneasy on the Emmys red carpet, a body language expert said, suggesting that her smile masked signs of discomfort.
Selena Gomez attended the Emmys without her husband of nearly a year, Benny Blanco. The actor and singer smiled for photographers while displaying her shimmering gold gown, but a body language expert said she appeared somewhat uncomfortable despite her poised red-carpet appearance. Here is what the expert noticed.
Selena Gomez attended the Emmys without Benny Blanco
Gomez was at the ceremony both as a star and executive producer of the Emmy-nominated Only Murders in the Building. Inbaal Honigman, a body language expert with Casino.org, said Gomez did not seem fully at ease.
“Selena appears to be missing Benny on the red carpet, as her body language lacks some of the natural joy and confidence we often see when her husband is by her side,” she explained. “Her shoulders curve slightly forwards, almost as if she’s trying to shield herself, while picking at her fingers can be a telltale sign of nerves or unease.”
Honigman said Gomez’s smile, while present, also appeared to communicate a sense of discomfort.
“But Selena’s face gives away the most,” she said. “Even when she smiles, her eyes remain wide and rounded rather than narrowing into happy, smiling eyes. Her cheeks don’t lift and round in the way we would expect from a truly joyful smile.”

He shared how he wants to celebrate his first anniversary with Selena Gomez
After the Emmys, Gomez and Blanco are set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Blanco previously said he was surprised to discover that they would mark the occasion by eating a slice of their wedding cake.
“I didn’t even know this was a thing. Her grandma, her nana, told me this,” he said on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle. When we were at the wedding, she was like, ‘You gotta save the cake.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean save the cake?’ And she was like, ‘You gotta save the cake.’ And I was like, ‘Why?’ She was like, ‘You have to eat it.’”
Still, he admitted that he has doubts that it will taste good after a year.
“So yes, we have six slices left. I hope you only have to eat it for the first year,” he said, adding, “I don’t want to be eating this thing on year six. I didn’t even wrap it correctly. It’s probably furry now.”
Beyond sharing cake, Blanco said that he and his wife hope to relax in celebration of their big day.
“We wanted to just be chill,” he said, noting, “We’ve been traveling so much. We’ve been all over. I haven’t been in my own bed in 4 months. And we’re, like, chillers. We want to chill. I don’t know. Maybe we’ll watch our speeches or something like that.”
