AFL star Isaac Heeney’s fiancée, Steffie Waters, has removed their engagement photo from her social media account as the fallout from the Sydney Swans scandal continues.
The apparent public gesture has sparked fresh questions over whether the couple’s planned wedding will go ahead, with scrutiny continuing in the wake of sexual assault allegations that emerged last month.
The now-deleted image was posted in October last year and showed Waters and Heeney smiling as they revealed their engagement. Waters displayed her large diamond ring to the camera in the announcement.
Waters has, however, left other images of herself and Heeney on her account, including a May post showing the pair having a drink together on a beach.
“Happy 30th birthday to this boy. Can’t wait to be your wife,” Waters wrote alongside that photo.
Deleting the engagement post marks another notable change to Waters’ Instagram. Earlier this month, she unpinned the couple’s engagement announcement from the top of her feed, where it had been one of the most visible posts documenting their relationship.

Heeney and four fellow Swans players — Chad Warner, Riley Bice, Nick Blakey and James Jordon — were stood down for the rest of the 2026 AFL season after the club found they had breached its standards. The players were found to have stayed out late, consumed alcohol and brought women back to the Pullman East Melbourne hotel during the early hours of Monday, August 17.
It later emerged that adult entertainers had been brought to the hotel gathering, while Victoria Police began investigating allegations of an indecent assault said to have taken place in one of the rooms.
Earlier this month, it was reported that police were preparing to interview the five Sydney Swans players as the investigation moved into a new phase.
Heeney and Waters announced their engagement in October last year after the footballer proposed during a romantic holiday in French Polynesia.
The couple had shared a series of loved-up photographs from the trip, including shots of Waters showing off her engagement ring, alongside the caption: ‘Beyond grateful.’

Meanwhile, Heeney has deleted his Instagram page altogether.
The latest social media changes come after Waters was photographed in tears without her engagement ring after fleeing to Noosa amid the scandal.
The absence of the ring immediately sparked speculation that the couple’s relationship had come to an end.

The picture, which was uploaded in October last year, captured her and Isaac beaming together as they announced their engagement, with Waters flashing her eye-popping diamond ring to the camera
However, a relative subsequently shut down the split rumours, saying that the pair were still a couple.
The relative said the pair had ‘remained in contact’ and ‘had not ended either their relationship or their engagement’. They also explained why Waters’ ring was missing, saying it had been taken to a jeweller for repairs after the stone fell out.
Three women involved in the night at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne have made allegations of sexual assault and obtained legal representation, with potential civil action also reportedly being considered.
Police have not charged anyone over the allegations and the investigation remains ongoing.
The players have denied any criminal wrongdoing.
Prominent Melbourne criminal lawyer Tony Hargreaves has been called in to represent the players.
