Miley Cyrus Brushes Off Single’s Poor Performance at Glamorous Album Release Party

Miley Cyrus marked the arrival of her new album with a glittering release party at Los Angeles landmark Chateau Marmont on Thursday evening.

The 33-year-old Wrecking Ball singer was joined by a high-profile guest list that included Paris Hilton, 45, and Chappell Roan, 28, as they celebrated Bass Persuades ahead of its official Friday release.

Cyrus brought understated luxury to the occasion in a black Celine tank top priced at $750, styled with a striking $3,500 belt from the fashion house. A flowing black silk skirt and heels rounded out her sleek evening ensemble.

Her fiancé, Maxx Morando, 27, and mother, Tish, 59, were also by her side for the glamorous gathering. Among the other famous faces were Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, 57, actress Eva Longoria, 51, and YouTuber Tana Mongeau, 28.

The festivities came as Cyrus released the official video for Let’s Get Married, the second single from Bass Persuades. Filmed at Chateau Marmont and featuring Morando, the visual arrives shortly after Tish appeared to refer to the musician as Cyrus’ “husband.”

The Chateau Marmont album party followed reports that Bass Persuades, the record’s lead single and title track, dropped out of Spotify’s Global 200 chart only two days after debuting.

With her blonde hair arranged in long, mermaid-inspired waves over her shoulders, Cyrus took time to sign autographs for fans gathered outside the hotel.

Morando kept his look relaxed while matching his fiancée’s designer choice, wearing a $1,190 red Celine sweatshirt with black trousers and sneakers.

The pair sweetly held hands as they arrived at the party with Cyrus’ mom.

Tish showed off her age-defying figure in a white top paired with low-rise blue jeans and a burgundy leather jacket.

Cyrus’ pal Hilton put on a leggy display in a black leather mini skirt paired with over-the-knee boots and a long-sleeve top.

The Hilton heiress accessorized with a sparkling bag and wore her platinum blonde hair in a straight style.

Pink Pony Club hitmaker Roan wore a black tube top with a beige skirt and heels as she arrived at the event.

She topped the look off with a red beret and a matching fiery purse.

In a statement on Instagram on Thursday, Cyrus wrote of Bass Persuades, ‘This album happened fast but that’s been my life for 20 years. Once I started wishing to land a role that would make LA my home it’s been nonstop.’

‘This album is a reflection of everywhere I’ve been along the way and the peace that came with starting to slow it all down. Thank you for celebrating this release with me. It’s a special record and it’s bliss to share with you.’

Cyrus’ single Bass Persuades debuted at No. 23 on the charts, then plunged to No. 123 on its second day, and then fell off the chart entirely by day three.

Bass Persuades marks a more mainstream sound for Cyrus after her last album, the genre-bending passion project Something Beautiful, underwhelmed commercially.

It’s also her first release under Atlantic Records, after Cyrus signed with the label after leaving Columbia Records after five years.

Under Columbia, Cyrus released Something Beautiful and 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation, the latter of which spawned the biggest hit of the star’s career, Flowers.

Before that, Cyrus was at RCA, where she released Bangerz, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, Younger Now and Plastic Hearts.

Cyrus seems to be aiming for major commercial success with Bass Persuades, which launched with a big budget music video from photographer Mert Alas.

In the clip, a scantily-clad Cyrus struts through a dimly lit dive bar before taking to the streets with a group of fellow party people to dance the night away.

In the lyrics of her new song, she urged her younger fans to put away their phones and get on the dance floor as she declared that ‘the kids don’t want to dance’ on the repetitive chorus.

The 80s-inspired track features lyrics expressing a yearning for the analog era of the past, highlighting how many people are now ‘glued’ to their screens.

Cyrus, who rarely performs live, has also announced two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl October 16 and October 18.

Alongside the news of her new album and Hollywood Bowl shows, Cyrus also announced a rebrand by dropping her surname.
