Taylor Frankie Paul Exit Puts Secret Lives of Mormon Wives at Risk

Taylor Frankie Paul is leaving the drama behind—at least for now.

The MomTok personality announced Monday that she is stepping away from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

In a lengthy Instagram post dated September 21, Paul thanked the networks that had supported her and allowed her to return to television. She then explained that she no longer wanted to continue under the current circumstances, writing, “I don’t desire to move forward like this.”

Paul’s 2026 has been marked by a series of controversies. Production on SLOMW was halted in early March following reports that she and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen, had been involved in a domestic violence incident. A separate video later emerged showing Paul throwing a chair at Mortensen. The footage led ABC to remove her season of The Bachelorette from its schedule only days before the planned premiere.

The fallout also affected SLOMW, with Hulu cutting Season 5 from 10 episodes to five. Although filming recently started on Season 6 with Paul initially returning, tensions within the cast have continued to rise. Last week, Mikayla Matthews announced her departure, saying she was uncomfortable participating in a series that continued to give Paul a platform. Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor have likewise suggested they could exit after Season 6.

Paul described the criticism from her castmates as “bullying” in her Instagram message.

“Some of the girls know what I’ve been through and then to turn and collectively pile on with their ‘statements,’ knowing there has been ongoing abuse through the system the last 8 months on top of what I’ve endured,” she wrote. Paul, a mother of three, is involved in custody disputes with Mortensen, the father of her son, and her former husband, Tate Paul, with whom she shares two children.

Earlier in September, TMZ reported that Paul had failed several court-ordered drug tests, resulting in reduced parenting time. After publishing her announcement Monday, she also updated her Instagram bio to indicate that her assistant would manage the account.

Paul’s departure adds another layer of uncertainty to the future of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Hulu announced in August that it had ordered 20 additional episodes, planned for Seasons 6 and 7, but the cast’s ongoing upheaval has raised questions about whether that order will remain intact. Without Paul, Matthews and other cast members may be more willing to continue production. At the same time, the escalating off-camera conflict could put the entire series at risk. Along with Paul and Matthews, original cast members Debi Engemann and Whitney Leavitt have also recently left SLOMW. Hulu could ultimately shift its focus to the planned spinoff, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, instead of continuing with the original show.
