Falcon Crest Cast: What the Surviving Stars Look Like Today

What does the cast of Falcon Crest look like today? The vineyard-set nighttime soap aired from 1981 through 1990, and while several of its stars have sadly passed away, others remain in the public eye—and continue to look remarkably good. It seems the cast has truly aged like fine wine. Before catching up with the surviving actors, it is worth remembering those who are no longer with us. Jane Wyman, who portrayed the formidable family matriarch Angela Channing, was 64 when the series premiered and 73 when it concluded. The show became one of her last major roles. A few years after its finale, she made her final screen appearance as Jane Seymour’s mother on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. Wyman died in 2007 at age 90.

Abby Dalton, who played Angela’s daughter Julia Cumson, has also died. The actor was 88 and, like Wyman, took on far fewer screen roles after her time on Falcon Crest. Her final credit came in the 2013 short film Mrs. Sweeney, in which she played the title character. Other cast members who have died include Mel Ferrer, Audrey Hepburn’s first husband, who passed away in 2008; Simon MacCorkindale and Chao-Li Chi, who both died in 2010; and Cliff Robertson, remembered by many as Uncle Ben in the early-2000s Spider-Man films, who died the following year.

Those Falcon Crest actors who are still living have followed very different paths. Some have continued working in television and film, while others have built entirely new careers. Lorenzo Lamas and Jamie Rose fall largely into the second category: Lamas still accepts occasional acting jobs but works primarily as a helicopter pilot, while Rose has become a mindset coach. Even after all these years, both former TV stars have held on to their signature appeal.

Lorenzo Lamas played Lance Cumson, Jane Wyman’s grandson, throughout all nine seasons of Falcon Crest. The role arrived early in the actor’s career and helped establish him as one of the era’s biggest television heartthrobs. After the series ended, he found another leading-man role in Renegade. These days, however, acting is no longer his full-time profession. During a 2014 appearance on Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Lamas explained that he enjoys acting but relies on aviation to support himself, saying, “I’m in control of things happening in my aviation career […] I love to act, but aviation is paying the bills now.”

As for what Lamas looks like these days, while he sported a clean-cut, preppy look in “Falcon Crest,” over the years he’s played around with a bunch of different hairstyles, at one point even sporting his “Renegade” character’s long, flowing tresses IRL too. For the most part, though, Lamas tends to go for shorter hair. Granted, he’s still experimented here and there, even joining the silver fox club in 2022. However, despite sharing on Instagram that it was easier than back-to-back dye jobs, the ’80s hunk has subsequently gone back to dark hair. 

Perhaps the decision came after his relationship with his fifth wife ended, since Lamas had previously said he kept his hair gray because she preferred it that way. He has also posted photos showing the gray returning at the roots, suggesting the darker color may have been for a role. Either way, the actor remains instantly recognizable. There are, naturally, some signs of aging—he was in his early 20s during Falcon Crest and is now in his 60s—but his familiar features are still very much intact.

Lamas may still be undecided about fully embracing his gray hair, but David Selby, who played Richard Channing, has been comfortable with the look for years. Fans remember Selby’s thick dark-brown hair from Falcon Crest, yet his transformation is hardly shocking. Now in his 80s, his hair is closer to white than silver, but the actor’s distinctive face—and especially those memorable eyes—remain unchanged.

Selby has continued acting long after Falcon Crest ended. In 2020, he delivered a particularly moving performance on Chicago Fire, appearing as a grieving widower. Although it was a one-episode appearance, viewers clearly appreciated his work, with one YouTube commenter calling it “another amazing performance by David Selby.” His later credits also include NCIS: New Orleans, Todd Tarantula, and the award-winning independent film The Great Nick D. Through Facebook, Selby frequently revisits his earlier work, while his website features an “Air Dates” page for fans looking for his latest appearances, reruns, and other projects.

His website also includes links to his radio theater work, and longtime admirers have responded warmly. Some Facebook users have thanked him for making those performances available, while others have enjoyed rediscovering his older roles. One fan wrote that she and her husband had recently watched Castle Rock and was delighted to see Selby “at his creepiest.” More than three decades after Falcon Crest left the air, he remains a favorite among the show’s devoted audience.

Susan Sullivan has no intention of letting age diminish her sense of glamour. In a 2025 interview with People, she said that turning 80 did not erase her desire to be seen as attractive, charming, and capable of captivating a room. It helps that Sullivan, who played Maggie Gioberti on Falcon Crest, still looks stunning—and now wears her gray hair with confidence. Since the soap ended, she has appeared in projects including Castle, Dharma & Greg, and Tylenol campaigns, joking that the work has treated her well financially.

“I have the beach house to prove it,” Sullivan quipped. Still, she’s continued working even as she’s gotten older, making appearances in “The Kominsky Method,” “Last Man Standing,” and “The Grotto,” among others. She also collaborated with former co-star David Selby for what she called, “A soap opera for seniors,” (via X). Though she’s joked a few times about dubbing it “The Old and the Restless,” the retirement-themed project is actually called “What Friends Do.” Unsurprisingly, “Falcon Crest” fans were thrilled to hear about it. “For real? I loved you two on ‘Falcon Crest!'” gushed one user on X. 

“Maggie and Richard, I mean Susan and David, I am looking forward to it. Never missed FC!” penned another. Another commenter had one small concern, however, writing, “You are not a senior though.” We reckon the actor got a real kick out of that one. Sadly, Sullivan was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2023, and lymphoma in 2025. However, she’s on the road to recovery and we’re wishing her the best.

William R. Moses, who played Susan Sullivan and David Selby’s onscreen son, is now in his 60s and has also seen his hair become considerably lighter. Whether it is naturally blond, gray, or helped along by hair color is unclear, but the former soap star still looks remarkably youthful. Moses departed Falcon Crest several years before the finale and, in that same period, appeared in Mystic Pizza alongside Julia Roberts and Matt Damon.

His résumé later grew to include the Perry Mason television films, Melrose Place, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and How to Get Away with Murder, along with guest appearances on NCIS, Castle, and Bones. Moses has remained friendly with several former co-stars, including Lamas and David Selby, whom he mentioned during the Media Path Podcast. Still, he is skeptical that Falcon Crest would benefit from a revival, arguing that the series has not aged particularly well. By contrast, he believes Mystic Pizza has remained highly watchable, saying the film “holds up great.” The same could easily be said of Moses.

While several members of the Falcon Crest cast have embraced silver and white hair, Jamie Rose is still known for her vibrant red locks. It is unclear whether the color is entirely natural or the work of an excellent stylist, but Rose has retained more than just her signature hair. She remains energetic, youthful, and full of personality, with notably radiant skin. Rose played Vicki Gioberti during the first three seasons of Falcon Crest and later appeared in shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Two and a Half Men. Her biggest professional shift, however, came when she became a mindset coach and author.

On her website, Rose explained that she made the change despite having what appeared to be an ideal Hollywood life: a starring television role, a home in the Hollywood Hills, access to celebrity circles, and years of sobriety. Yet, she admitted, those achievements were not making her happy. After working with a coach herself, Rose became fascinated by what she learned and eventually turned that experience into a new career helping others.

Rose has released “Facing Madame X: The Tools for Women.” Even though she isn’t in the spotlight in the same way her colleagues who’ve remained actors are, she’s certainly one of the more regularly seen “Falcon Crest” alumni, and regularly posts coaching videos and life updates on her Instagram. Even so, we know we’re not the only ones who’d be thrilled if she did return to acting, even if only for a cameo on “What Friends Do.”
