Dozens of delegates walked out as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the stage at the United Nations General Assembly. Addressing those who remained, Netanyahu denounced the departing diplomats as “moral cowards” and defended Israel’s military operations. He called the mass exit a striking display of hypocrisy, arguing that it ignored the broader threat posed by Iran.

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Israeli officials sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macron over comments concerning Hamas, setting off an international diplomatic dispute. Huckabee rebuked the French leader and suggested that France could instead “carve out” a portion of the French Riviera. French diplomats then moved to contain the fallout, saying the controversy stemmed from a significant misunderstanding of Macron’s wording in translation.

German authorities indicted seven alleged Hamas operatives accused of collecting automatic rifles and handguns in Europe. Prosecutors said the suspects were involved in a plot targeting Jewish and Israeli individuals in Berlin and Vienna as the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack approached. Investigative files also revealed that one of the central suspects had been secretly working as a confidential informant for German intelligence.
Ambassador Jeff Bartos, the U.S. representative for U.N. management and reform, called for the United Nations to end its 25-year association with the 2001 Durban Conference. Bartos argued that the conference helped give rise to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, or BDS. He urged the U.N. to stop commemorating what he described as a damaging legacy in an effort to restore the organization’s international credibility.
“Before I begin, just a quick announcement: If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said to the members of the U.N. General Assembly who remained after the mass walkout.
