Beyoncé and Jay-Z Respond to “Haters” in First Collaboration in Seven Years
A woman who previously accused Jay-Z of sexual assault has withdrawn her allegations.
Nearly two years after the “Empire State of Mind” rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was accused of raping an unnamed 13-year-old girl identified in court records as Jane Doe, the woman has formally recanted her claims. According to court documents obtained by E! News, she said there was “no truth” to the allegations.
“I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me,” she wrote. “I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone.”

E! News said it contacted representatives for Jay-Z and legal counsel for Jane Doe but had not received a response.
The lawsuit, filed in December 2024, alleged that Jay-Z drugged and raped the woman at a party in 2000 alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs. Jay-Z strongly denied the accusation from the outset, describing the lawsuit in a statement to E! News as a “false complaint” driven by an alleged “pursuit of money and fame.”
“This incident didn’t happen,” the rapper said at the time. Jay-Z had sought to have the plaintiff’s name disclosed, but the motion was denied. “True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began.”
