GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Angelique Monaé Curtis, 24, was arrested last night after she allegedly pointed a firearm at three people and threatened to shoot them.
A Gainesville Police Department officer went to Banyon Hammock Apartments at about 8 p.m. on September 25 after Curtis’s boyfriend reported that the two had argued repeatedly throughout the day.
Curtis reportedly left a family member’s home in another vehicle at around 7:30 p.m. and returned to the apartment she shares with her boyfriend.
About 30 minutes later, her boyfriend arrived with several other people and attempted to enter the apartment. Curtis allegedly blocked the doorway. After her boyfriend pounded on the door, a second person reportedly “donkey-kicked” it, leaving visible dents.
Curtis allegedly stepped outside carrying her boyfriend’s gun and pointed it at him and the second victim, prompting both to run down the stairs. From the top of the staircase, Curtis reportedly aimed the weapon downward. A neighbor, who was in the line of fire, feared she could be shot.
The neighbor told police she saw the firearm’s barrel and heard Curtis say, “I will shoot you,” as well as, “If y’all come back and try to break in, I’ll shoot you.”

Curtis reportedly made an unsolicited statement to an officer acknowledging that she had said, “I will shoot you.”
Curtis faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was also arrested in 2025 after allegedly joining two other women in an attack on a female victim in the 1000 block of West University Avenue. In August 2026, she pleaded nolo contendere to simple battery. Judge Meshon Rawls withheld adjudication of guilt and ordered her to pay a $753 fine.
Judge George Wright ordered Curtis held without bail on the new charges while awaiting a State Attorney’s Office motion seeking to keep her jailed without bail through trial. If the motion is denied, bail will be determined at that hearing.
