Trump Administration Begins Airing 2024 Campaign Ad in Latest Taxpayer-Funded Messaging Push

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration is spending taxpayer money on a television advertisement adapted from Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, marking the latest in a series of spots promoting the president ahead of the midterm elections. The White House describes the ads as “public service announcements.”

The 30-second video closely mirrors a 2024 campaign ad. It shows Trump walking through a hallway while his voice warns of a “final battle” against “globalists” and “warmongers.” The black-and-white spot ends with Trump looking directly into the camera and the words, “Paid for by the U.S. Government.” The campaign version urged viewers to “Join President Trump’s Fight for America.”

lawmakers from both parties have condemned the new ads as inherently political, particularly because they are being financed with public funds. The White House argues that similar spots ran under previous presidents, although those advertisements focused on specific policies rather than promoting the occupants of the Oval Office.

AdImpact, which monitors media spending, estimates that roughly $319,000 has already been spent on the latest advertisement.

“With you at my side, we will demolish the ‘deep state.’ We will expel the war mongers from our government. We will drive out the globalists; we will cast out the communists, Marxists, and fascists,” Trump says in the narration. “We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country. We will rout the fake news media, and we will liberate America from these villains once and for all.”

The spot follows a one-minute advertisement that began airing Friday, featuring nighttime footage of Mount Rushmore alongside quotations and excerpts from Trump’s Fourth of July weekend speech honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary. Another 30-second ad, launched Wednesday, combines clips of Trump discussing the defeat of communism with text touting the “largest tax cuts in history,” “reigniting American manufacturing” and defending law enforcement and police.

In a statement Friday, the White House defended the spending on what it called “public service announcements” and dismissed the criticism as “deeply dishonest.”

“The announcements are very clearly not campaign ads; President Trump is not on the ballot and there is no call to action,” the White House said. “Instead, the announcements are a reminder for Americans to love their country and know why it’s worth defending — at home, at the border, and abroad.”

The White House pointed to past examples, including the George W. Bush administration’s campaign promoting a Medicare law and the Biden administration’s advertising effort encouraging COVID-19 vaccinations.
