Bebe Rexha is recalling a heartfelt gesture from Taylor Swift that she has never forgotten.
Rexha, 37, spoke about the memorable exchange with Swift, 36, while attending the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on Sunday, September 27. “I remember when I had the whole Grammys situation and I couldn’t find a dress, and she had reached out to me because we’re the same age,” the singer told E! News.
“And I thought that was really, really, really kind of her. Like, nobody really reached out,” Rexha said, recalling the 2019 Grammy Awards, when she struggled to find a designer willing to dress her.
Rexha added that Swift’s support carried particular weight because of her stature in the music industry. “Some people did, you know? But for her, at such a high level, to kind of make me feel like I belonged, was really, really nice,” she said.

Rexha first spoke publicly about the issue in 2019, when she posted an Instagram video criticizing designers who refused to dress her body type. “So I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s like the coolest thing ever,” she said in the since-deleted clip. “And a lot of times artists will go and talk to designers and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet. So I had my team hit out a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big.”

She went on to deliver a blunt message to those designers: “So all the people that said that I’m thick and I can’t wear dresses? F*** you, I don’t want to wear your f***ing dresses.”
Bebe Rexha has also pushed back against body-shaming comments following her appearance at the 2026 American Music Awards. After online trolls commented on her weight on Monday, May 25, the 36-year-old singer quickly responded to one X user who shared side-by-side images of her from different points in her career.
“Literally, like, they [say], I’m too big. And if a size 6, 8, is too big, then I don’t know what to tell you,” Rexha said. “Then I don’t want to wear your f***ing dresses. ‘Cause that’s crazy. ‘Cause all … you’re saying that all the women in the world that are size 8 and up are not beautiful, and they cannot wear your dresses.”
In the comments section, she emphasized that criticism of her style or music is different from excluding women based on their size. “If you don’t like my fashion style or my music that’s one thing. But don’t say you can’t dress someone that isn’t a runway size. Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less than by their size. We are beautiful any size! Small or large!”
