Hilton’s children, who range in age from 8 to 13, are currently staying with his mother, Teresita Lavandeira. She sought temporary custody last month after his Aug. 4 livestream.
The podcaster’s family previously said his children, along with Hilton’s sister and niece, were inside the home “just minutes before the public livestream incident.”
“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma,” his family said in an Aug. 6 statement. “Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced.”

Perez was hospitalized for weeks while receiving treatment for his physical injuries before moving to a residential treatment program.
“Whatever anyone may think of ‘Perez Hilton,’ his past, or things he has said over the years, there’s a real human being behind the name,” his family said in a Sept. 14 statement. “Mario is a father of three, a son, a brother, and a friend who reached a point where he was struggling so deeply that he thought the people he loved would somehow be better off without him.”
