Actor Chad Lowe Mourns the Death of His 13-Year-Old Daughter

Chad Lowe’s 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, has died.

Her family confirmed the devastating news to Page Six, revealing that the Life Goes On star, 58 — who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, 62 — lost his teenage daughter on Tuesday, while directing anyone struggling with mental health to reach out to the suicide prevention helpline. 

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” her family said. “She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

The statement concluded: “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”

Lowe, who was formerly married to actress Hilary Swank, shared Fiona with his producer wife, Kim Painter. The couple also have two daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

The Daily Mail has contacted Lowe’s representatives for comment.

Parents at Fiona’s school reportedly received an email from the principal on Tuesday informing them that a student had died, according to Page Six. The message did not identify the student.

The email offered condolences to the student’s family and said that “counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”

The actor’s most recent Instagram tribute to Fiona came in November 2025, when he marked her birthday with a photo of her smiling in cowboy boots.

“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” Lowe wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

In February 2025, Lowe also posted a photo of his three daughters visiting what remained of their childhood home in Los Angeles after the devastating Palisades fire.

The sisters stood with their arms around one another as they viewed the ruins.

“Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he wrote in the caption.

“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

In October 2024 he also shared an adorable family photo with his wife and all three girls in a corn maze. 

‘Lost in the maze! Our favorite time of year!’ he wrote.

Lowe reflected on being a ‘girl dad’ on the Still Here Hollywood podcast in August 2024.

‘Having daughters is such an incredible privilege,’ he shared.

‘It takes what I’ve known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in a lot of ways… And it’s put it in my heart, because I have three daughters. And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective.’
