Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona has died at age 13.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” her family said in a statement shared with Page Six on Tuesday.
“She was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents. She was, in fact, the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy during this difficult time.”
The family added a message encouraging anyone struggling with mental health to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Fiona was Lowe’s daughter with his wife, producer Kim Painter. The couple also shares daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Parents at Fiona’s school received an email from the principal Tuesday morning informing them that a student had died. The message did not identify the student.
“It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students,” the email, obtained by Page Six, stated. “Our sincere condolences go out to the student’s family, friends and teachers,” it continued.
The school also said counselors were available to provide emotional support to students and staff affected by the loss.
Lowe, 58, last publicly mentioned Fiona on Instagram in November 2025, when he celebrated her birthday.
“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote alongside a photo of his smiling daughter in cowboy boots. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

In February 2025, Lowe posted photos of his daughters visiting the remains of their childhood home in Los Angeles after it was completely destroyed in the Palisades fire.
One image showed all three girls with their arms wrapped around one another.
“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” Lowe wrote. “I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
During an August 2024 appearance on the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast, Lowe spoke about raising three daughters and described being a girl dad as a privilege.
“It takes what I’ve known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in a lot of ways … and it’s put it in my heart, because I have three daughters,” he said. “And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective.”
Still, Lowe said his perspective was not entirely “doom and gloom,” noting that society was continuing to change.
“So I see how we’re really becoming conscious of the role of women,” he said.
Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, has been married to Painter since August 2010.
He was previously married to Hilary Swank. The couple separated in January 2006 after eight years of marriage.
