Officials release 911 dispatch call in Ole Miss student death
Symphany Grier, treasurer of Turning Point USA’s Ole Miss chapter, appeared on Fox & Friends First to address the deaths of students Aidan Hamilton and Robert Strang. The tragedies have renewed scrutiny of kratom, a controversial herbal substance commonly sold online and at smoke shops.
Oxford, Mississippi, police responded early Thursday to a suspected overdose involving a 22-year-old, saying synthetic kratom was found at the scene. Authorities emphasized that the incident was not student-related and had no known connection to the deaths of Hamilton and Strang.

Emergency medical personnel were able to revive the person, who is expected to be OK. Police said the individual had synthetic kratom in their possession.

Authorities said Thursday’s suspected overdose is separate from the deaths of Ole Miss students Aidan Hamilton, 18, and Robert Strang, 20. The two were found dead Sept. 21, with synthetic kratom reportedly located nearby. Officials have not yet determined or publicly disclosed the cause of death.
