David Grusch, an Air Force veteran turned UFO whistleblower, has made another extraordinary claim: that US officials know of a huge underwater installation allegedly connected to non-human craft.
Grusch, a former intelligence officer who now advises lawmakers on UFO transparency, told Congress under oath in 2023 that the government had operated secret programs for decades to recover and study crashed spacecraft believed to be of non-human origin.
During a recent interview with Joe Rogan, he expanded on his allegations, saying officials were aware of at least one enormous underwater facility that extraterrestrials supposedly use as a “base of operations” for their vehicles.
“I’m going to be careful because it gets into sensitive Navy underwater things,” Grusch said.
He described the alleged site as a large, established facility located somewhere beneath the ocean, comparing its scale to “multiple city blocks.” Grusch said he did not know when it was built.
According to Grusch, objects or other materials are regularly seen moving in and out of the supposed base.
He said his account was based on classified program documents, video evidence and statements from people inside the military and government who allegedly provided firsthand information.
The Pentagon and the White House, however, have repeatedly said that investigators have found no physical evidence confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life or alien spacecraft.
Former Air Force Major David Grusch, who became a prominent UFO whistleblower, appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast on September 30
Grusch did not identify the facility’s location or explain precisely how it was detected. He said those details involved highly sensitive military tracking capabilities, but maintained that US authorities had been monitoring activity connected to the site.
He also claimed that Navy officials had jokingly—or perhaps not so jokingly—linked the alleged installation to The Abyss, the 1989 science-fiction film in which an oil-rig crew encounters mysterious non-human beings living beneath the sea.
“I will tell you, underwater people, I know that come from that community, they’re always like, ‘You know, The Abyss, Dave, it’s kind of a docudrama.’ And I’m like, ‘Holy f***,’” he said during the September 30 episode.

Grusch served in the Air Force for 14 years before becoming an intelligence officer with the National Reconnaissance Office, the Pentagon agency responsible for developing and operating surveillance satellites.
Between 2019 and 2021, he represented the NRO on a government task force examining unidentified aerial phenomena. He later came forward as a whistleblower, alleging that parts of the US government had obstructed congressional oversight of programs involving possible extraterrestrial technology.
Grusch subsequently briefed lawmakers and testified about what he said the government knew regarding non-human intelligence.
His latest comments resemble claims previously made by Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett, a member of the House Oversight Committee involved in examining UFO reports. Burchett said last year that alien “entities” could be living in deep underwater regions.
In an interview that circulated widely online, Burchett said unidentified craft had been spotted repeatedly near five or six deep-sea locations. He suggested that some of those areas might be in the Atlantic Ocean, near the Bahamas.

Speaking with journalist Matt Laslo, Burchett said naval personnel had described pursuing underwater objects capable of traveling hundreds of miles per hour—far faster, he claimed, than the vessels available to the US Navy.
Grusch also alleged that he was shown footage of bodies recovered from the crash site of a purported alien vehicle. He characterized the video as recent and clear, rather than the indistinct, decades-old material often associated with UFO claims.
He alleged that the beings he saw were ‘very beautiful’ with pale, bluish-white skin, which were now being kept in a frozen storage facility for further examination.
Rogan asked: ‘This video, do you think this will be a part of disclosure, that we’ll get to see this video of these dead bodies?’
‘Probably. There’s a lot of audio-visual stuff. The problem with the current climate like you’re going to have to wheel out the physical evidence, too, because the trust in government is so low right now,’ Grusch claimed.
