Gypsy Rose Blanchard is grieving the death of her boyfriend, Ken Urker.
Ken was found dead inside his Louisiana home on Oct. 1. His death adds another heartbreaking chapter to Blanchard’s romantic history, much of which has unfolded in the public eye.
As a young woman, Gypsy Rose conspired with her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, in June 2015. The case sent both of them to prison. During her incarceration, Gypsy Rose formed other romantic relationships and later welcomed a daughter with Ken following her release.
Here is a look at the men who have been part of Gypsy Rose’s life over the past decade—and the distinct roles each relationship has played:
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Nicholas Godejohn Met Online in 2012
Gypsy Rose spent much of her childhood in Missouri undergoing treatment for conditions including leukemia and muscular dystrophy. Doctors later determined that she did not actually have those illnesses, according to The Associated Press.
Her mother, Dee Dee, was alleged to have Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another (FDIA), formerly known as Munchausen syndrome by proxy. The condition involves a caregiver exaggerating or fabricating another person’s illness to gain attention or sympathy.
“Essentially Gypsy’s mother was holding her a prisoner,” her trial attorney, Michael Stanfield, said, according to the news outlet. “Her mother would not allow her to spend any time alone with any other human being. Her mother, when they went to the doctor, did all the talking.”
Gypsy Rose eventually found a path toward independence after meeting Nicholas, a Wisconsin resident, on an online Christian dating website in 2012, according to The Associated Press.
Nicholas Godejohn Killed Dee Dee Blanchard in 2015
The two began a secret relationship, communicating frequently by text and discussing a future together. They met in person for the first time in March 2015.
Their conversations soon took a devastating turn, however, when they began discussing a plan to kill Dee Dee, the outlet reported.
On June 14, 2015, Nicholas stabbed Dee Dee to death with Gypsy Rose’s encouragement, ABC News reported.
“It was not because I hated her,” Gypsy Rose told the outlet. “It was because I wanted to escape her.”
Both were arrested less than 48 hours later.
Where is Nicholas Godejohn Now?
Gypsy Rose pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 10-year sentence. Nicholas, whom a psychologist testified had the mind of a child, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, according to CBS News.
Prison records reviewed by Oxygen show that he remains incarcerated at the Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point, Missouri.

She was released in December 2023 after serving seven years. Soon afterward, she told People that she was eager to experience a relationship beyond prison walls.
“I’ve never lived with a man,” she said. “I grew up with a mom, so I didn’t even grow up with a dad in the house. So, I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what it’s like to live with a man.’”

Ken’s life came to a tragic end on Oct. 1.
The Lafourche Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Oxygen that Urker had been found “dead upon arrival” inside his home.
The death remains under investigation.
Gypsy Rose told People after his death that it may have been the result of an overdose, describing him as her soulmate.
“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” she said. “He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”
