OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The owner of a 10-year-old dog that was thrown into a dumpster and later died has been sentenced to 20 days in jail, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident occurred in March, when Max was discovered injured inside a dumpster near 1076 Cypress Pkwy.
Investigators said surveillance video showed Max’s owner, identified as 80-year-old Victor Manuel Carrion-Flores, placing the dog in the dumpster.

An autopsy determined that Max had suffered blunt force trauma, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
“Due to the severity of the skull fracture, Max had to be euthanized, and his owner was arrested for third-degree aggravated animal cruelty,” the sheriff’s office said in a release.
Carrion-Flores pleaded guilty on Sept. 30 to the felony animal-cruelty charge and a misdemeanor charge of abandoning an animal to die, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office said the sentence includes:
