Lindy Klim has offered a candid account of co-parenting with her former husband, Michael Klim, saying the arrangement often feels less like shared parenting and more like a solo responsibility: “There’s no ‘co’, it’s just me.”
In an expansive interview, the 47-year-old also discussed the difficult collapse of her second marriage to Adam Ellis. Lindy said she continues to carry most of the day-to-day responsibility for the three children she shares with Michael, almost 10 years after their separation.
“We definitely do have our struggles with co-parenting, as I think a lot of people generally in the whole wide world have their ups and downs,” the socialite told the Daily Mail.
“It’s something that never runs smoothly, unfortunately. It’s just one of those things, and we’re on good terms.”
She added: “I just think we’ve got to work a little bit harder at the co-parenting side because I feel like I’m doing most of it.”
Lindy and Michael announced their split in February 2016, after spending roughly a year attempting to save their decade-long relationship. They are parents to Stella, 20, Rocco, 18, and Frankie, 15.
According to Lindy, the relentless demands of family life leave her managing much of the household workload herself, from “mountains of washing and cooking” to the daily administration that comes with raising children.
Although she stressed that she and Michael remain amicable, Lindy acknowledged that their relationship still has its “ups and downs”. The former Olympic swimmer is also dealing with ongoing health challenges.
Lindy Klim, 47, said she and her Olympic ex-husband Michael Klim, 49, continue to face challenges with co-parenting and claimed she handles most of the responsibility
The former couple share three children: Stella, 20, Rocco, 18, and Frankie, 15
“It’s a struggle. Michael and I are good,” she said.
“He’s going through his own health issues and everything like that.”
Michael was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, known as CIDP, in 2020. He had regularly travelled to Australia for treatment before moving permanently to the Gold Coast this year.
Despite the difficulties, Lindy said she is genuinely pleased that Michael has found happiness with his new fiancée, Michelle Owen. The couple became engaged in December 2025 after six years together.
“Yeah, she’s great. She’s lovely. I’m really happy for them,” Lindy said.
“They’ve been together for a long time and she’s a really good influence on my kids, and they all enjoy her company. So it’s nice.”
Lindy also reflected on her turbulent relationship with her second husband, Adam Ellis. She began dating the property developer in 2016, and they married two years later.
The couple separated in late 2024. Lindy subsequently left Bali without money after spending 14 years on the island, where her late father, Anak Agung Oka Rama, was part of the Royal Denpasar family.
Lindy also shares eight-year-old daughter Goldie with her former husband, property developer Adam Ellis
Lindy has previously said Adam’s mental health struggles placed significant strain on their marriage and prompted her to begin taking anti-anxiety medication. She said he has since sought professional help.
‘Adam’s doing really well. He has done a lot of work on himself. He’s been sober for a year and a half I think now. I just saw him recently in Bali last week,’ she says.
‘I have full custody of Goldie and we try to visit as much as we can. That’s once or twice a year. Unfortunately, he can’t make it to Australia.

‘But we’re doing things to try to get their relationship back on track because I want her to know her dad and he is a wonderful man. He just happened to go through a really bad period in his life.’
Lindy says their eight-year-old daughter is attending therapy with her and Adam to help maintain her relationship with her father, whom she speaks to every Monday.
‘Goldie’s been in therapy since we moved back to Australia. With a therapist and Adam and myself, we’re really trying to rebuild that relationship, and they do things like play Roblox together every Monday night,’ Lindy says.
‘I can hear them giggling and laughing and all that sort of stuff. It’s really nice to see them reconnect and our last trip to Bali was wonderful.
‘He came over to the villa and swam with Goldie and we had lunch together and things like that. So it’s really nice to see them together again.
Lindy tells the Daily Mail that she and Michael still have their ‘ups and downs’
‘We all go through moments in time. I think everybody struggles at some point and with him it’s been really nice to see the work that he’s been able to do on his own, and come to terms with the things that he has to work on and take better care of himself and things like that. So it’s been really great.’
Lindy says she has also been able to rebuild her finances after going ‘super broke’ following her split from Adam and subsequent return to Australia.
‘I’m actually really proud of myself for it because I didn’t have anything. I had to loan $20,000 from my grandmother and she was the first person I paid back,’ she recalls.
‘I’ve moved three times. I had a fully furnished house for five months that I paid for. Then I moved to a three-bedroom apartment and now I’ve rented a four-bedroom house.
‘I’ve managed to build everything back up and get furniture and a car and all those things. As a single mum with four kids, working full-time, I’m actually really proud of myself that I’ve been able to do it.’
Lindy says she got support from ‘a really good group of girlfriends’ who call themselves the ‘Single Mums of Stonnington’.
Lindy is very much happy in love with her new beau, medical tech businessman Paul Mullert
‘Generally the people that have gone through the same kind of things as you have are the ones that can really truly understand,’ she says.
‘I do have other friends as well that were able to loan me a car or help me out with bedding and all of that sort of stuff. I had a really good network of friends.’
These days, Lindy is happily in love with her new partner, medical tech businessman Paul Mullert.
They were introduced by Paul’s sister and went public with their relationship at LIV Golf Adelaide in February last year.
‘Things are great, he’s wonderful. I feel very blessed to have met him. He’s just a really good person, a really nice person,’ Lindy says.
She then joked: ‘We do look a little bit like brother and sister, which is very strange. But yeah, he’s amazing.’
Lindy will be opening up in yet another candid conversation next month as she attends the Hot B***h Biz Lunch, which is an intimate gathering for female business owners and entrepreneurs.
The event will take place on Friday, November 27 at Kiki’s Tavern in South Yarra.
‘I’m just really looking forward to it. I love chatting,’ Lindy says.
