Scarlett Johansson made a striking appearance at the BFI London Film Festival on Saturday, arriving at the Ray Gunn premiere in a strapless red gown that put her large back tattoos on full display.
The 41-year-old actress looked effortlessly glamorous at the Royal Festival Hall, where she joined her co-star Sam Rockwell for the star-studded event.
Ray Gunn is an upcoming computer-animated science-fiction mystery directed by Brad Bird.
The film centers on Raymond “Ray” Gunn, the world’s last human private detective. His latest case plunges him into a perilous conspiracy involving murder and Venus Nova, a volatile multimedia pop star voiced by Johansson.
Johansson paired the bold red dress with strappy heels, adding height, and kept her accessories understated with a simple gold necklace.
The backless design also highlighted the prominent flower, vine and lamb tattoos she had inked in 2017.

Earlier this summer, Johansson opened up about the health and beauty habits she follows to support her radiant complexion and natural appearance.
The actress said she uses biohacking techniques to aid digestion and takes a particular supplement each day while managing her demanding schedule.
She also discussed her evening routine, including the steps she follows after removing her makeup, along with the magnesium supplement and vegan collagen she takes before going to sleep.
“I take magnesium at night. It helps me sleep. I feel like it’s good for recovery,” Johansson said.
The Oscar-nominated star, who has previously spoken about feeling “self-conscious” after facing harsh comments about her appearance early in her career, continued: “It’s good for your entire central nervous system.”
Johansson also praised the difference magnesium has made during periods when she has struggled to get enough sleep.
“I know that everybody is taking magnesium now. It’s so helpful,” she said.
“It really makes a huge difference, especially in my digestion and my recovery. It’s awesome,” added the Black Widow star.
She said she began taking vegan collagen after a close friend recommended it, claiming it helped her hair become “thicker, faster and shinier”—although her dermatologist disputed the benefits.
“I don’t know. My dermatologist was like, ‘It’s everything you put on your skin, that’s what counts. Anything you’re taking internally, none of that is working.’”

She also opened up about her daily skincare routine in the evening.
She credited ‘clean skin care standards’ and ‘healing, hydrating benefits’ of the beauty products from her skincare brand The Outset, which she founded and launched in 2022.
‘My night routine is pretty simple,’ she said as she revealed she washes her face with the brand’s micellar cleanser.
‘I don’t wear a full face of makeup every day, [just] foundation and concealer, so I don’t have a full face to wash off.’
She said she also uses hydration-boosting products from her brand to complete her face routine, finishing off with a serum, a moisturizer and ‘sometimes I’ll put a couple of drops of boosting oil in there’.
As for her morning routine, she said she uses the same cleanser, serum and moisturizer as she does at night.
She adds an eye cream from her brand before doing light makeup with concealer, mascara, ‘blush and a little eyeshadow, and that’s it’.
‘Then I’ve got to run out the door. I’ve got two kids,’ added Johansson, who shares daughter Rose, 12, with her ex-husband Romain Dauriac as well as son Cosmo, five, with her husband, Colin Jost.
‘They’ve got to go to school,’ she added. ‘I don’t always have time to put makeup on. Sometimes that’s a step later in the day.’
She also opened up about her fitness routine to maintain her toned physique.
