Chad Lowe and his family have made their first public appearance since the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, attending a relative’s wedding in Santa Barbara.
The 58-year-old actor was seen at the weekend ceremony celebrating the marriage of his nephew, Matthew Lowe, and Emily Markus.
The family gathering came only weeks after Fiona died by suicide on September 29.
Lowe wore a blue suit with a white shirt and striped blue tie for the occasion.
He attended alongside his wife, Kim Painter, and their daughters, 17-year-old Mabel and 10-year-old Nixie.
Despite the family’s grief, the actor was photographed smiling. In one moment, Painter could be seen affectionately holding Nixie close.
The Daily Mail has contacted Chad Lowe’s representatives for comment but has not received a response.

The outdoor ceremony was officiated by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, with Rob and wife Sheryl Berkoff sitting in the front row, Page Six reported on Saturday.
Rob and Berkoff also attended with their 30-year-old son, John, who sat beside them.
The celebrity guest list included Katy Perry, Adam Levine, Cameron Diaz, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and Maria Shriver.
Markus walked down the aisle in a strapless white gown featuring a train, paired with a sheer veil secured at the back of her head.
The 33-year-old groom chose a traditional black suit and white shirt. Matthew and his new wife became engaged in 2025 after dating for several years.
Lowe also returned to Instagram on Wednesday, reposting a video to his Stories featuring Irish writer Gerry Hussey.
The clip came from Hussey’s appearance on Olivia Hunt’s On Healing podcast, where he reflected on what happens to the soul after death.
“It is a frequency. It’s an energy field. And we possess it all the time within ourselves. We are all part of the frequency,” Hussey said. “We all possess direct access to that.”
“We both possess the human and the divine,” he continued. “We are connected to everything that is. It just makes sense, and there’s nothing there but peace and love. So when we die, where do we go? We return to a state of peace and love.”

Chad’s return to social media came after his nephew John Owen, his brother Rob’s older son, shared a poem about hope days after Fiona’s death.
John used Instagram Stories to post Emily Dickinson’s poem Hope Is the Thing With Feathers.
‘Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all,’ the missive reads.
‘And sweetest in the gale is heard; and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm,’ it goes on.
‘I’ve heard it in the chillest land, and on the strangest sea; yet, never, in extremity, it asked a crumb of me.’
Emergency services responded to Chad’s family home at 12:10am on Tuesday, September 29, and Fiona was transported to a hospital, where the medical examiner said she was pronounced dead at 1:14am.
In a statement to People, Chad and his casting director wife remembered Fiona as ‘a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.’
The note continued: ‘We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.
‘Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.’
They directed anyone struggling with mental health to reach out to the suicide prevention helpline, adding: ‘If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide + Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.’
