Online Marketplace Jewelry Listing Linked to Armed Robbery in Affluent Tennessee City

A jewelry listing on Facebook Marketplace was linked to a late-night armed robbery at a home in affluent Franklin, Tennessee, authorities said. Police pursued three suspects who allegedly fled the scene.

Officers were called to a home in northeast Franklin shortly after 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9. Investigators determined the robbery was connected to jewelry advertised for sale on Facebook Marketplace, according to the Franklin Police Department.

The suspects initially escaped, but responding officers located them a short time later. A vehicle chase followed and ended with all three men being taken into custody, police said.

Authorities identified the suspects as Ivan Lagos-Espinoza, 22, and Jose Paiz-Godoy, 23, both from Nashville, along with Rubel Rodriguez-Lisa, 19, of Lebanon.

Each suspect faces several charges, including aggravated robbery, felony evading and tampering with evidence.

The reported robbery occurred in a community known for its affluent neighborhoods and luxury homes. Franklin’s city website calls it “one of the wealthiest cities in one of the wealthiest counties in the United States.”

Realtor.com reported that Franklin’s median home sale price was $903,410 in September 2026. The median listing price was $1.1 million.

In Williamson County, which includes Franklin, the median home sale price reached $929,990, according to the real estate website.

Police said the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation and the effort to locate and arrest the suspects.

The incident also led authorities to caution people who sell items online about the dangers of inviting strangers to their homes, especially when the merchandise is valuable.

Police recommended that buyers and sellers complete transactions in public, well-lit places, with other people nearby and security cameras available whenever possible. For high-value purchases, authorities advised meeting at a police department or another law enforcement facility.

The department also urged sellers to bring another person, avoid carrying large sums of cash and limit the personal details they disclose. That includes information about their homes, schedules and other valuable possessions, police said.

Jewelry, electronics and other costly goods can draw the attention of criminals and make sellers potential targets, authorities warned.

“If something about the buyer, seller or proposed meeting location does not feel right, cancel the transaction,” the department advised.
