ATLANTA — Both the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons have spent the week navigating uncertainty at quarterback. Bears coach Ben Johnson acknowledged that “a lot of things have gone through our minds” while evaluating his options, a situation Atlanta knows all too well.
As the 3-2 Bears prepare to visit the 2-3 Falcons on Sunday, both teams have already endured their share of quarterback turmoil. Fortunately for each club, strong running games have helped steady the offense.
Chicago’s Caleb Williams and Atlanta’s Michael Penix Jr. appear headed toward starting roles after returning to full participation in practice this week.

Williams is expected to play his first game since suffering a right hamstring injury during the fourth quarter of Chicago’s 9-3 loss to Minnesota on Sept. 20. Sources told NFL Network and ESPN that the Bears plan to start him Sunday in Atlanta.
