St. Johns County Inmate Faces New Charges in Alleged Murder Plot

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said Furnal’s bond has been revoked and that he remains held in the county jail.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A St. Johns County inmate is facing additional charges after investigators said he tried to arrange the killing of a person expected to testify against him.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, 42-year-old Dustin Furnal communicated with another incarcerated individual to organize the murder plot.

Detectives said their investigation uncovered “hours of recorded conversations, jail calls, and visitation recordings” in which the two allegedly discussed the plan.

Furnal now faces charges of solicitation to commit murder and tampering in a first-degree felony proceeding. The Sheriff’s Office said his bond was revoked and that he remains in custody.

Furnal was arrested in June 2026 on several felony charges, including fentanyl trafficking, unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, and cocaine possession.
