Searchlight Pictures goes behind the scenes of director Martin McDonagh’s upcoming political comedy, “Wild Horse Nine,” with a featurette highlighting the film’s production and creative team. Sam Rockwell, who has collaborated with McDonagh three times, calls him “one of the best directors of his generation.”
McDonagh describes “Wild Horse Nine” as the story of two CIA employees in 1973 who take an unexpected detour to Easter Island.
Steve Buscemi, who plays MJ, says McDonagh’s films are driven by memorable characters—and often leave audiences wondering whether they should be cheering for them.
Rockwell, who portrays Lee, reflects on his three films with McDonagh and praises the filmmaker as one of his generation’s leading directors.
Parker Posey, who plays Margie, also applauds McDonagh’s approach. She says watching him build an entire world and shape it into something lasting is an especially rewarding experience.
The featurette also explores the use of local crew members and the challenges of filming “Wild Horse Nine” in Easter Island, a special territory of Chile. Watch the video below for more details.
The cast includes John Malkovich, Bastián Bodenhöfer, Mariana di Girolamo, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Parker Posey and more.
“Wild Horse Nine” arrives exclusively in theaters Nov. 6.
