Florida Woman Goes Viral After Reporting Crash in Banana Costume

She came to the rescue in a decidedly un-peel-ievable outfit.

A Florida woman has gone viral after contacting police for help at a crash scene while still wearing a banana costume.

Stephanie Oropeza and her fiancé were driving home from a Halloween party at about 4 a.m. Saturday when they witnessed a vehicle slam into The Moderne Bar in Orlando. The collision caused an estimated $50,000 or more in damage, ClickOrlando reported.

“At first we were just in shock,” Oropeza said. She recalled seeing the driver traveling “on the opposite side of the road” before gradually “veering” into the bar.

Video from the restaurant shows Stephanie Oropeza calling police for help after the crash in a banana costume.

The scene took an unexpected turn when footage surfaced showing Oropeza reporting the crash in her full banana costume. The unusual sight left viewers wondering whether the video could possibly be real.

“They were like, ‘Is this AI? Like, are you messing with us?’” said Michael Nguyen, the owner of The Moderne, who shared the video online.

“And I was like, ‘No, no, this is really a rogue 4:30 a.m. banana just roaming the streets of Mills, just saving the day, reporting the incident.’”

The restaurant thanked Oropeza with a free meal.

Oropeza said she discovered just how widely the moment had spread when she woke up the following morning.

“I woke up and I looked up if anyone posted about the crash and then see the headline is ‘banana hero,’” she said.

The restaurant later managed to identify Oropeza and thanked her by treating her to a free meal.

“It feels nice,” Oropeza said. “And I hope this all just can spread a better message that if you see someone in need.”

No one was injured in the crash, but the property damage was substantial. Nguyen said replacing the restaurant’s custom fence alone could cost as much as $50,000.

The impact also destroyed six tables and dozens of chairs, he said.

The Orlando Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for further information.
