A group of brazen black bears attempted to raid a car for snacks and a pack of beer outside a couple’s home in Tennessee before residents managed to drive them away.
Residents outside their home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, caught a family of black bears breaking into a white pickup truck on Oct. 14. The bears rummaged through the vehicle and caused some damage in the process.
Video recorded by Pam Conley shows four bears climbing around inside the truck. They first removed a bag of snacks, then pulled out a six-pack of beer, sending the cans crashing onto the driveway.
“We didn’t have a chance to unpack the truck yet, so of course, we had snacks in there, and they just helped themselves to granola bars, beer and Crunch ‘n Munch.”

The couple eventually tried to approach the animals and scare them off, but the bears briefly pushed back.

Black bears are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals.
According to the National Park Service, black bears depend heavily on their sense of smell when searching for food and can detect a food source from more than two miles away.
To scare a bear away safely, people should keep their distance, stand their ground, look the animal in the eyes, raise their arms to appear larger and make loud noises.
