One of London’s most prolific voyeurs has been sentenced to four years in prison after police discovered hundreds of videos of women he had secretly filmed in a concealed folder on his mobile phone.
Anthony Durkan, 35, dressed in black and wore a balaclava while stalking the streets of Islington. He targeted homes at night, filming women through their windows without their knowledge.
In January 2026, a woman reported to police that Durkan had repeatedly appeared outside her home and recorded her.
The father of two was seen raising his mobile phone towards windows as though recording inside before walking away. A neighbour’s doorbell camera captured the incidents.
He was dressed entirely in black and had partially concealed his face, apparently in an effort to avoid being identified.
Several weeks later, officers attended another address in Islington after a second woman said she had seen a man filming her through her window.
She confronted Durkan, who immediately ran away. The encounter was also recorded by a security camera.
Durkan was eventually caught in the act by a plainclothes police officer on March 26 and arrested.

Durkan pleaded guilty to nineteen counts of voyeurism at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court
At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a black hoodie and holding a cigarette and his phone.
When the plainclothes officer told him he was being arrested on suspicion of voyeurism, Durkan responded in a bemused manner, suggesting that he did not understand the meaning of the term.

Prosecutor Edward Kalber told the court that Durkan had filmed women inside their homes while they were “in various states of undress”.
Officers found a hidden gallery on his phone containing hundreds of images and videos of women.
The material allowed police to connect Durkan to offences dating back to 2020. Investigators are continuing efforts to identify any additional victims.
Durkan, of Corporation Street in Islington, had previously admitted 26 voyeurism charges. He was sentenced to four years in prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, whose team led the investigation, said: “Durkan carried out a calculated and deeply intrusive campaign of offending, targeting women in what should have been the safety and privacy of their own homes. Many victims had no idea they were being watched and filmed.
Dressed in all black, Durkan is apprehended by a police officer who tells him he has been arrested for voyeurism
“This investigation was driven by the determination of officers to act on reports from local women and identify the perpetrator.”
Through proactive patrols, officers were able to spot Durkan carrying out the same offending behaviour and arrest him before more women could be targeted.
‘This conviction reflects the severity of these crimes and means a dangerous individual has been removed from the streets of London, preventing further harm to women.
‘I would like to thank the victims for the courage they showed in coming forward and supporting this investigation. Their actions, alongside the proactive work of officers who identified and stopped Durkan’s offending, have undoubtedly prevented further harm.’
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police previously said: ‘Examination of Durkan’s seized devices uncovered extensive evidence of further voyeurism offences, prompting detectives to review historic crime reports where no suspect had been identified and all viable lines of enquiry exhausted.
‘This led to Durkan being linked to offences dating back to January 2020. Detectives are now working to identify additional victims.
