Selma Blair Fights Back Tears in Apology for Flight Incident

Selma Blair has broken her silence more than two weeks after her arrest over an alleged altercation aboard a Delta flight.

The 54-year-old actress became emotional and fought back tears as she addressed the incident and apologized in a video shared on Instagram Friday, October 30.

“Hi, it’s me. I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11th, and you deserve to hear from me directly. I’m sorry it’s taken this long,” Blair said. “There is a legal matter going on, and my lawyers have asked me not to say anything about that day. I’m listening to them, and I take this very seriously.”

Although Blair did not discuss the details of the flight, she said she was sorry for what happened and emphasized that she never meant to cause harm or ill will.

Selma Blair Breaks Silence After Arrest for Allegedly Injuring Flight Attendants Amid Medical Emergency

A spokesperson for Selma Blair has addressed her arrest after she was accused of injuring two flight attendants during what was described as a mid-flight “medical emergency.” “Since Sunday night, the public account of what happened to Selma aboard a flight to New York has been built almost entirely on a police statement and a decade-old headline,” the […]

“What I can tell you, though, is very simple and the truest thing I know about myself: not one day in my life have I ever intended to hurt or frighten anyone,” she said. “To the people I disappointed, hurt, frightened or alarmed, I am so sorry.”

Blair also thanked those who reached out with messages of support following the incident and the ensuing public attention.

“To the people who have written, called or sent wishes of love and caring, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as is [Blair’s service dog] Scout, who is also okay,” she said.

The Cruel Intentions star ended her message by saying, “So right now I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love.”

Blair was arrested earlier this month following allegations that she assaulted flight attendants during a flight from Los Angeles to New York.

“She was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the JFK Port Authority Police Department said in a statement to Us on October 11. “Two flight attendants also reported injuries, and one was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The FBI is investigating this incident.”

Blair’s attorney said the alleged assault was unintentional and that she was confused after missing doses of her multiple sclerosis medication. She pleaded not guilty to the charges at an October 12 hearing and was released from custody on bond.

“Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight,” her representative said in an October 16 statement, the first public comment from her team about the incident. “There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”

Selma Blair Pleads Not Guilty

Selma Blair has pleaded not guilty after her arrest on allegations that she injured two flight attendants and tried to open a plane door during a “medical emergency.” Us confirmed that the 54-year-old actress entered her not-guilty plea on Monday, October 12, after being charged with two counts of assault, including one involving a police officer […]

Her spokesperson also pushed back against what the representative described as “outrageous” speculation surrounding Blair’s battle with multiple sclerosis.

“Her diagnosis has been public since 2018. What Selma has been able to do physically in the years since is nothing short of a miracle. She still has bad days, and she lives with pain daily,” the statement said. “Selma also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition secondary to her MS, which bears directly on how a medical episode presents to people who do not know her. For that same reason, she travels with a service dog who does not leave her side, and the authorities took her dog from her.”

According to the spokesperson, Blair has continued working on several projects since her diagnosis while also becoming a “visible and relentless advocate for disability rights.”

The statement added, “There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we ask [the public] to consider the entirety of the facts before rushing to judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion.”

Blair’s next hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027.
