An Oklahoma woman is accused of shooting and killing her husband in their bedroom during the early morning hours, according to police.
Salomi Derena Ochsner, 63, faces one count of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her husband, 63-year-old Jeff Ochsner.
The shooting occurred at a home on East West County Road in Chattanooga, authorities said.
At approximately 5:35 a.m. on Oct. 30, Ochsner called Tillman County 911 and reported that she had “just shot and killed her husband of 40 years,” according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by Law&Crime.
The charging document combines a narrative from the county sheriff’s office with information provided by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Investigators say Ochsner cited an alleged domestic violence incident from the previous night as the reason for the shooting.
“Salomi told dispatch that Jeff had ‘beat her head in last night’ [and] ‘he was going to kill her,’” the affidavit states. She allegedly told dispatchers that she had lost consciousness, that it was “her life or his,” and that she needed an ambulance and stitches because her head was bleeding.
When authorities arrived at the residence at about 7 a.m., they found Jeff Ochsner lying face up on the floor of a bedroom beside a bed covered in what the affidavit described as a “pool of blood.”
“Jeff had no signs of life and was blue in color,” the document states.
Officers also observed that Ochsner had “a laceration on the left side of her head, approximately 3.5 inches long, above her left eye, just below her hair line,” according to the affidavit.

She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, medically cleared and then transported to the Tillman County Law Enforcement Center.
At the sheriff’s office, Ochsner waived her Miranda rights and agreed to be interviewed, the charging document says.
According to investigators, Ochsner said she had been in bed the previous evening when her husband returned from hunting and, around 6:30 or 7 p.m., “dragged her out of bed and threw her to floor.”
“Jeff then grabbed her by the hair and began slamming her head into the floor, multiple times, causing the laceration and her head began bleeding,” the affidavit states. Ochsner allegedly said she did not believe she had lost consciousness before Jeff got up, sat in the living room and watched television.
Ochsner told investigators she remained on the floor for about two hours. She then cleaned her blood from the floor and went to sleep at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to the charging document.
Police said Ochsner awoke early the next morning.
At about 5:30 a.m., she allegedly went to the bedroom where her husband was sleeping and took a .38 Special revolver “from the side of the bed,” the affidavit says.
“Jeff was laying face down in the bed,” the document states. Ochsner allegedly stood at the foot of the bed and fired once. After he rolled and fell onto his back on the floor, she reportedly saw that he was still breathing and shot him “approximately one or two more times.”
Ochsner is being held in the Tillman County jail on a $200,000 bond.
