A former Oklahoma judge allegedly fired a gun toward a group of trick-or-treaters on Halloween while intoxicated, then pointed the weapon at a responding police officer before being arrested and taken to jail in the county where he once served.
Jerry Herberger, 73, reportedly shot in the direction of children collecting candy outside his Duncan home at about 8 p.m. Saturday, police told KSWO. Authorities did not say what prompted the incident.
No one was struck. However, when officers arrived at the scene, Herberger allegedly aimed his firearm at one of them, according to the Duncan Police Department.
Herberger ultimately followed officers’ commands and was taken into custody without incident. He was then booked into the Stephens County jail, the same county where he previously served as a judge, according to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.
