Blade Runner 2099: Cast, Story and Everything to Know About Prime Video’s Sci-Fi Series

Amazon Prime Video’s “Blade Runner 2099” has been in development for years. Yet with the science-fiction series now scheduled to premiere on November 25, 2026, many details about the project remain under wraps. Watch Looper’s video above for a complete guide to everything known about “Blade Runner 2099.”

Created by Silka Luisa, the miniseries continues the story first introduced in Ridley Scott’s 1982 classic “Blade Runner” and expanded in Denis Villeneuve’s visually striking “Blade Runner 2049” in 2017. Michelle Yeoh stars as Olwen, an aging replicant and blade runner, while Hunter Schafer plays Cora, her human partner. Set much further into the franchise’s timeline than either film, the Prime Video series could offer a fresh perspective on the Blade Runner universe. Early glimpses suggest it will deepen the mythology and take the franchise in several unexpected directions.

Blade Runner 2099 introduces a new set of sci-fi mysteries

Mystery has always been central to the Blade Runner franchise. The original film intentionally left Deckard’s (Harrison Ford) possible replicant identity unresolved, while “Blade Runner 2049” built much of its story around hidden truths and unanswered questions. It is no surprise, then, that “Blade Runner 2099” is keeping many of its biggest reveals secret.

So far, most of the available information has come from the “Blade Runner 2099” panel at the 2026 Comic-Con, along with a small number of trailers, including the latest preview shown at New York Comic-Con. The eight-episode series appears to be a richly designed exploration of replicant identity and the possibility of curing their condition — presumably the predetermined short lifespan that has defined replicants throughout the franchise. Looper’s video above brings together everything currently known about “Blade Runner 2099.”
