Wild video captures the moment a small plane clipped a pickup truck while making an emergency landing on a Florida highway.
Two pilots were aboard the aircraft when it developed a mechanical problem and attempted an emergency landing on Bayshore Road in Fort Myers, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Footage from the roadway shows the plane’s wings striking the back of a pickup truck traveling in the same direction. The aircraft had touched down on the asphalt at a high rate of speed.
The plane continued rolling along the busy road, the video shows.
Remarkably, no one was injured.
“Thankfully, this incident had a positive outcome, and no one was injured,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno told CBS 12.
“Given the recent tragic news involving aviation accidents, we are especially grateful that everyone is safe.”
Flight tracking data indicates the plane departed from Sebring, Florida, at around 11 a.m. Sunday and made the emergency landing roughly 50 minutes later.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
The close call occurred less than a week after a Learjet plunged nose-first into the ground and erupted in a massive fireball in Palm Beach, killing all nine people aboard.
The cause of that crash remains under investigation.
