Lisa Barlow and Whitney Rose appeared alongside one another on Wednesday night’s Watch What Happens Live, following the premiere episode of the third season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
After Meredith Marks voiced a number of rumors against her on the show, including claims that she’s slept with people for money and has outstanding business debts, Lisa fired back at her former friend while also looking back at her hot mic moment, her encounter with Seth Marks, and her most recent interaction with former co-star Mary Cosby.
“It was ridiculous,” Lisa said of Meredith’s claims on the September 28 episode of WWHL. “I think that one thing I want to clear up is we do have an SCC filing on a company that’s newer. It’s not Vida Tequila, as implied, it’s another brand we own. And we actually, like, I’m proud of the SCC filing. If you guys have questions… just DM me.”
Whitney also spoke of Meredith’s allegations, saying that while she did not hear that Lisa was “having an affair,” she heard other “rumors about Lisa” that will be shared in a future episode.
According to Lisa, who suggested Meredith was acting out against her in retaliation for her hot mic moment of season two, she didn’t apologize for her rant right away because she felt Meredith didn’t want her to.
“When we left the reunion, we all went to dinner and… at the end of the night, before I left I went to talk to her and she made it pretty clear not to so I just wanted to give her space,” Lisa explained. “That’s why I went to [Heather Gay] instead of her first to have a conversation.”
But in the months since, Lisa has told Meredith that what she said was nothing more than “hyperbolic statements.”
“I have said it was all hyperbolic. It came from a place of hurt, not a place of hate, and I feel bad that she ever even heard that,” Lisa admitted.
As for where it came from, Lisa said Jen told her that Meredith “f-ed half of New York.”
“That came from Jen. She said it over and over and over again,” Lisa alleged. “In the van on the way to Zion you can hear her say, ‘It’s not my fault your best friend cheats,’ and then she said, ‘Ten boyfriends, ten different lives’ … In moments of rage, she kept saying it.”
During Wednesday’s RHOSLC premiere, Lisa briefly spoke to Meredith’s husband, Seth, about the things that were said, expressing regret while maintaining that she was acting out of hurt because the cast had been telling her Meredith wasn’t her true friend.
“I just felt like I had to say something and Seth and I talked a lot longer than I anticipated us talking. But I’m glad I got to speak to him,” she said, noting that her own husband, John Barlow, “tries to stay out of as much as possible.”
When Lisa was then asked about Mary, she confirmed she hasn’t interacted with her since shortly after wrapping season two.
“After we wrapped, Mary sent me a super nice text message and I was driving and I didn’t read it fast enough so she took it back,” Lisa revealed. “She literally said, ‘You didn’t have to be such a mean girl.’ I’m like, ‘I didn’t even get a chance to read it.’ But because I took too long to respond, she thought it was no response. I’m like, ‘I can’t text to drive and I really can’t read without my glasses.’”
Also on WWHL, Lisa was asked if she’d maintain relationships with Jen’s husband, Sharrieff “Coach” Shah, and her sons if she’s sent to prison for her fraud crimes.
“I don’t really know Jen’s kids but I think they’re doing great things and if I see Coach I always be super nice to him. He’s been great to me,” Lisa replied. Whitney said she’d “be there for [Jen’s] kids” if they “ever needed anything.”
“I thought she was gonna fight till the end … I was really surprised she put that plea in,” Lisa continued of Jen changing her plea to guilty in July ahead of a pre-trial hearing in New York.
And since the plea was entered, Lisa hasn’t heard from her co-star.
“I sent her a text [when she arrived in New York]… but it’s not my fault we’re not talking,” she explained.
As for Jen’s relationship with Meredith, Lisa said she “was totally surprised” to see the women form a bond amid season three.
“If you even watch the Vail episode last year, Meredith was really upset that no one believed her of all of Jen’s wrongdoing, and literally I felt like I got punished the last year and a half for trying to get those two back together and facilitate another friendship with them,” Lisa explained. “After everything said in Vail, the like, gloating in the bathtub, everything she said in her closet, I was shocked.”
“It’s a relationship of convenience,” she added.
