Fans of Dragon Ball Super were recently met with disheartening news regarding the continuation of their beloved manga series.
An update from Shueisha’s official V Jump magazine, the platform that publishes Dragon Ball Super, dashed hopes of an imminent return. The announcement confirmed that the series will not resume in the upcoming month, and there seems to be no planned return in the near future. The statement simply reads, “The Dragon Ball Super manga will be on hiatus in this issue,” offering no hints about a comeback or a specific timeline for when it might grace the pages of V Jump again. This effectively quashes any expectations for the series to appear in the May 2026 issue, scheduled for release on March 19.
Meanwhile, the April 2026 cover of V Jump is now available, showcasing Gogeta from Dragon Ball and highlighting the Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World.

Dragon Ball Super Publisher V Jump Confirms Ongoing Hiatus of Dragon Ball Super Manga
Dragon Ball Super debuted in V Jump in 2015, bringing readers back to the original Dragon Ball timeline. Written by the late Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou, Super picks up 10 years after the defeat of Majin Buu and marks the manga debut of fan-favorite characters such as Beerus, the God of Destruction first seen in 2013’s Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
Since its debut, Dragon Ball Super has amassed 24 volumes to date, with the most recent, “A Legacy Toward the Future,” releasing in Japan in April 2025 and in the U.S. just this month on March 3, 2026. The series also received a hit anime series adaptation that ran for 131 episodes. To top things off, Dragon Ball Super received two anime feature films, starting with Dragon Ball Super: Broly in 2018, which was followed by Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in 2022.
Fans can look forward to two brand-new Dragon Ball Super releases in the years to come, both of which were announced during the recent Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event. The first of these, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, will offer fans an enhanced remaster and partial remake of the first Dragon Ball Super anime saga. Although no confirmed release date has been announced as of writing, it was noted that Beerus is expected to arrive sometime this year.
The second major Dragon Ball Super project announced during Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri was the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime series, which will serve as both a follow-up to the original anime and an adaptation of the beloved Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga from the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Fans in attendance at Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri were given a glimpse of the current key art for Galactic Patrol, which features Goku and Vegeta standing side-by-side in their usual garb, albeit with the addition of the Galactic Patrol insignia on both. Like Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, no planned release date, nor even a release window, for Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol was announced during Genkidamatsuri, although it was confirmed that the series has entered production, leaving fans to expect a late 2027 or early 2028 release for the series.
The April edition of V Jump is currently available for purchase in Japan and online. The May 2026 edition is scheduled to be released in Japan on March 19. The official cover for the latter has yet to be revealed.
