In the captivating series Solo Leveling, protagonist Sung Jin-Woo begins his journey as the weakest among hunters. However, his fortunes change dramatically when he acquires the Shadow Monarch’s Shadow Extraction ability. This power allows him to resurrect his vanquished foes as shadows who fight under his command. Over time, his Shadow Army becomes an indomitable force, bolstered by formidable fighters like Beru, Igris, and Bellion.
Despite the seemingly invincible nature of the Shadow Army in Solo Leveling, there are characters from other anime universes who could still pose a significant threat. These characters possess extraordinarily high power levels. Their abilities range from sorcery techniques that nullify physical attacks to cosmic powers capable of wielding entire galaxies as weapons.
Take Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King and primary antagonist of Demon Slayer, for example. If he were to face the Shadow Army, his ability to regenerate would be a formidable obstacle. Muzan’s biokinesis grants him the power to instantly restructure his body. With seven hearts and five brains scattered within, finding a weakness for the Shadow Army to exploit becomes nearly impossible.
Muzan’s Regeneration Makes Him Nearly Impossible for the Shadow Army to Kill
As the Demon King and main antagonist of Demon Slayer, if the Shadow Army ever tried to stop him, the biggest issue would be Muzan’s regeneration. His biokinesis allows him to restructure his body instantly, and with seven hearts and five brains spread throughout his body, there’s no single weak point the Shadow Army can reliably target.
Muzan can also fragment his body into thousands of pieces and still reform completely, meaning the Shadow Army cannot finish him even if they overwhelm him physically. His final form makes things even worse with near-instant regeneration, full cellular control, and extreme stamina that most S-Class hunters would struggle to deal with.
Gojo’s Cursed Techniques Are Powerful Enough to Solo Sung Jin-woo’s Shadow Army
Gojo Satoru, born with Six Eyes and the Limitless technique for the first time in four hundred years, is the strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen. The Shadow Army’s biggest problem with Gojo is that they cannot physically touch him. His Infinity passively divides the space between him and any incoming attack, meaning every strike from Beru, Igris, and Bellion slows down before it reaches him.
If Gojo decides to actually attack, the moment he activates Unlimited Void, his Domain Expansion traps everything inside a space of infinite information, where endless stimuli overwhelm any shadow soldier caught inside and paralyze their mind and body. On top of that, Gojo’s Six Eyes give him superhuman sensory perception, so the Shadow Army’s coordination advantage completely disappears against him.
Aizen’s Immortality and Kyoka Suigetsu Make Him One of the Shadow Army’s Worst Nightmares
Against Sung Jin-Woo’s Shadow Army, Aizen brings two abilities that the Shadow Army has no clear answer for: the Hogyoku’s near-immortality and Kyoka Suigetsu’s complete hypnosis. He is extremely skilled at using these abilities, and uses them masterfully as the main antagonist of Bleach, being a former Soul Society captain who spent centuries manipulating others before revealing his goal of overthrowing the gods themselves.
Moreover, the Hogyoku constantly regenerates Aizen’s injuries to the point where even Ichigo’s most powerful attack, Mugetsu, only managed to incapacitate him temporarily. The bigger issue is Kyoka Suigetsu, which controls all five senses plus spiritual perception, making it impossible for fighters like Beru or Igris to reliably trust what they perceive and breaking the Shadow Army’s coordination.
Ainz Has Too Many Instant Death Spells for Jin-woo’s Shadow Army to Handle
With over 700 abilities ranging from instant death to time manipulation. Ainz Ooal Gown is the Sorcerer King of Overlord and the most powerful magic caster in his world. Jin-woo’s Shadow Army has no answer to spells like Grasp Heart, which crushes an opponent’s heart and kills them instantly from a distance, and even when resisted, it still stuns the target.
Time Stop lets Ainz dismantle the Shadow Army by stopping time while he preloads spells that activate the instant it ends. His The Goal of All Life is Death takes things even further by allowing instant death spells to bypass all resistance and immunity for 12 seconds. The author of Overlord himself confirmed that both time stop, and instant death countermeasures are required to fight Ainz fairly, and the Shadow Army has neither.
Rimuru Goes From A Bottom-Tier Monster to a Literal God
Rimuru Tempest starts That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as a seemingly weak slime, but his Gluttony ability makes him exponentially more dangerous with every fight, letting him absorb defeated enemies and inherit their abilities. By Season 2, he evolves into a True Demon Lord, a transformation that elevates his power and makes opponents who once posed a threat completely insignificant.
Later, Rimuru gains Raphael, an ability that lets him analyze opponents and figure out how to defeat them. He eventually evolves even further, combining his abilities into a power called Azathoth, a void-based power that can erase enemies from existence entirely. Since Jin-woo’s Shadow Army relies on resurrection, that kind of ability removes one of their biggest advantages.
Yhwach Can See Every Future the Shadow Army Has and Rewrite All of Them
As a result, Yhwach’s ability, the Almighty, lets him see every possible future at once and choose which one becomes reality. Yhwach would see all the Shadow Army’s efforts before they happen and solo Sung Jin-Woo’s Shadow Army by picking a future where none of it reaches him.
The Almighty goes beyond prediction, letting Yhwach rewrite futures where he dies and replace them with ones where he survives. Even if the Shadow Army somehow kills him, he can just pull a version of himself into the present where he’s still alive. There’s no real path to a permanent win against someone who can literally edit death out of his own timeline.
Anti-Spiral Plays With Entire Universes
Anti-Spiral is the most terrifying entity in Gurren Lagann, being a collective consciousness of an entire race that sealed away its own evolution and transcended normal existence. Anti-Spiral can reduce an enemy’s probability of winning to zero, literally manipulating the multidimensional laws of reality to make victory impossible for whoever it fights.
One of Anti-Spiral’s most insane feats is merging entire galaxies and firing them as a single attack known as the Infinity Big Bang Storm. Anti-Spiral can also trap enemies inside an infinite multiverse prison with no way out, and since the Shadow Army cannot fight something that exists beyond the dimensions they operate in, it can easily solo Sung Jin-Woo’s Shadow Army.
Goku Would Solo Sung Jin-woo’s Shadow Army Without Breaking a Sweat
Goku from Dragon Ball is one of the most iconic characters in anime. Over time, he has fought and defeated opponents capable of destroying entire universes and even multiverses. His strongest form, Ultra Instinct, lets his body move on its own, automatically dodging and countering attacks without any conscious effort.
Jin-woo’s continuous growth and regeneration are his biggest advantages in most fights, but both of them fall apart against Goku. A single Kamehameha from Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku carries enough destructive power to wipe out most of the Shadow Army, and even Jin-woo’s Ruler’s Authority wouldn’t be enough to turn the fight around.
Yogiri Only Needs One Word to Wipe Out the Shadow Army
Yogiri Takato from My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered looks like an ordinary high school student, but in reality, he is the embodiment of death itself. His ability allows him to instantly kill anything he targets with a single thought, with no way to dodge or survive it once it activates. If he decides something should die, it simply does.
The ability also activates automatically, meaning anything that directly threatens him can be erased before the attack even makes contact. In that sense, the Shadow Army wouldn’t really get a chance to overwhelm him. The moment Yogiri defines them as a threat, the fight effectively ends right there.
Saitama Would End Jin-woo’s Entire Shadow Army With a Single Punch
Saitama is one of the strongest characters in anime history, and One-Punch Man is built around the idea that he will always win. His Serious Punch alongside Cosmic Garou created an explosion that wiped out stars and left a massive void in space. He has survived multi-galaxy level attacks without a scratch and can destroy planets with the mere flick of the finger.
The Shadow Army’s only realistic shot at beating Saitama is a one-shot kill, because if the fight drags on, Saitama will only get stronger. Nothing in Jin-woo’s arsenal really scales close to the level of destruction Saitama casually tanks or produces, so the bald hero would easily solo Sung Jin-woo’s Shadow Army with a single punch.
