When pondering the most formidable figures in anime, the mind often gravitates towards the iconic fighters. Characters like Goku and Saitama come to the forefront, renowned for their explosive clashes and high-octane battles. Yet, some of the most potent characters in anime rarely, if ever, engage in combat. These individuals possess immense power, but their strength is not measured by the frequency of their fights.
The absence or infrequency of battle for these characters is often due to their overwhelming power. In many cases, they are unmatched in their respective universes, capable of feats such as time travel or reality manipulation without exerting themselves. Despite their abilities, they seldom resort to physical confrontation.
Take, for example, the universe of No Game No Life, where all disputes are resolved through games rather than battles. At the heart of this world is Tet, a character who has crafted this unique realm according to his desires. Once part of the Old Deus race, Tet emerged as the sole deity after a cataclysmic war among gods, thus becoming the unparalleled force in his world.
Tet Has Become The Ruler Of Disboard
The world of No Game No Life takes place in another world where all conflict plays out in the form of games. Tet is the being responsible for this status quo, making a world that exists exactly how he likes it. Originally just one member of the Old Deus race, Tet became the last god standing after a massive war between gods. After everyone else falls, he becomes the most overpowered character in his universe.
To achieve his power, Tet gained control over the Suniaster, also known as the Star Grail. Whoever owns the Suniaster is given the Throne of the One True God, transforming that being into one with control over existence. After the Suniaster was discovered in their world by Riku, Riku decided to wish for the “ultimate gamer” to claim it, resulting in Tet’s sudden appearance to claim the item.
Shortly after taking over as Disboard’s One True God, Tet outlawed all conflict and re-organized the world to be one that focused on games. Tet still wields enough power to do whatever he wants, including summoning beings from entirely different worlds to exist on Disboard, like he did with Sora and Shiro. He doesn’t even seem to have any weaknesses, and he’s had years of experience with his powers. He’s been shown to wield simple powers like flight, and complex powers like warping reality, but he’s yet to make himself a threat to anyone in his world.
Hiko Seijuuro Is The Invincible Swordsman
Hiko Seijuuro is the thirteenth master of the Hiten Mitsurugi sword style, and Himura Kenshin’s master. He mostly lives in seclusion, avoiding society as a way to avoid having to witness all the follies of civilization. Still, he encountered Kenshin when he was but a child and agreed to take him in, making him the next student of the Hiten Mitsurugi Style. It’s a decision he occasionally regrets, as he views Kenshin as a horrible student.
Hiko is single-handedly the greatest swordsman in his universe, and easily the strongest character in Rurouni Kenshin. As talented as Kenshin is, he was never capaple of bringing out the best parts of the Hiten Mitsurugi Style, because he simply doesn’t have the build for it. It’s users are meant to be muscular like Hiko, and that’s setting aside his decades of experience with the blade. When introduced, he’s actually better than Kenshin in another way, as he’s the only person aware of the final two succession techniques of the Hiten Mitsurugi.
With that being said, Hiko is scarcely challenged to a real fight within Kenshin. He helps against a single threat during the Juppongatana’s attack on Kyoto, but that’s his one exception. It’s actually been openly stated by the author that Hiko is a game-breaker in the universe, and can’t be used because he would trivialize any fight. This lines up with Hiko’s own reasoning for not fighting — he’s aware that the Hiten Mitsurugi Style is capable of changing the course of history, something he doesn’t believe he has the right to do.
Zen-Oh Is The Omni-King Within The World Of Dragon Ball
Introduced late in Dragon Ball Super, Zen-Oh is the ultimate ruler of the multiverse. He’s responsible for setting the universe in place, and even created the Angels and Gods of Destructions to be caretakers of each individual universe. Generally kind and of a playful disposition, Zen-Oh seems to enjoy seeing impressive tests of strength. He not only suggested the idea of the Tournament of Power after hearing about Universe 6 and Universe 7 fighting, he also asked to see the Gods of Destruction themselves battle it out once.
As ruler of the multiverse within Dragon Ball Super, there’s actually no limit to Zen-Oh’s powers. He was able to wipe away entire universes by just pressing a button on a tablet during the Tournament of Power. In the past, he eliminated six of the multiverses eighteen universes because he was in a bad mood. He’s so powerful that usually he doesn’t do much at all, instead often relying on the Grand Priest that’s always with him to carry out his will.
Having said that, the main reason he never fights is it’s literally impossible to challenge him. When he appeared in the Future Trunks timeline and witnessed Zamasu haven taken over and merged with the multiverse, he simply erased that multiverse from existence. Later, when Frost tried to cheat in the Tournament of Power, he was erased with a wave of the hand. Even though Dragon Ball is full of incredible warriors, not one of them could ever challenge Zen-Oh.
Tokimi Is One Of Three Invincible Goddesses In The Tenchi Muyo Universe
Tokimi is proof of how weird even a mostly chill anime like Tenchi can be. She’s technically meant to be a goddess, one part of the incredibly powerful Choushin group. However, following the events of Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki OVA 3, Tokimi decided to live with the Masaki family in a complete shift from her prior cold and calculating persona.
As a member of the Choushin, Tokimi is a goddess with technically limitless power. She’s shown the ability to manipulate time and reality itself, though that hasn’t always worked in her favor. The OVA series even showed her moving around whole galaxies to achieve her scientific aims. While technically the Choushin are supposed to be equal in power, Tokimi is still capable of taking away her sisters’ powers altogether.
Tokimi isn’t shown actively fighting because she’s far beyond most things that would actually attempt to attack her. She has servants that could fight in her place, but the most powerful people in her multiverse are her sisters and Tenchi himself, in his Kami Tenchi form. Given all the people near her power level are her allies, she doesn’t have to lift a hand. The one time someone actually attacked her and he was destroyed by Tenchi, she fixed it by recreating his soul and placing him somewhere he could be happy.
Mother’s Role as Creator Has Kept Her Out of Combat in Edens Zero
Edens Zero might have the weirdest sci-fi universe of all time. After all, not many other anime universes feature a goddess quite like Mother. Introduced in the first episode of Edens Zero, Mother is said to be the Goddess of the Cosmos in the Edens Zero universe. Early on, Shiki and Rebecca both agree to set out in search of discovering Mother.
A giant woman that exists out in space independent of everyone else, it’s easy to see how a legend could build around a character like Mother. It’s believed that Mother is capable of granting the wish of anyone that comes to see her, while others claim that whoever meets Mother is literally born again. It’s all high standards for a being most have never actually met in-universe before. Of course, one of the people that did meet her was granted the ability to see the future, and they haven’t exactly been grateful over it.
That said, Mother’s power is undeniable. While the anime hasn’t revealed it yet, the manga has explained that Mother really is at the center of creating their universe. Of course, no one’s ever challenged her because even getting to her is thought to be an impossible task, and people believe only one group has ever made the journey and come back. Even if they could reach her though, Mother possesses so much more Ether than even the most talented fighters that it wouldn’t even be a close battle.
