Fans of Dragon Ball are buzzing with anticipation for the newest addition to the series, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. This sequel will bring to life the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga from Dragon Ball Super, often referred to as the “Moro Saga” due to its infamous antagonist. Moro, a sinister sorcerer, has been wreaking havoc and annihilating planets for eons.

This crucial narrative arc, which spans Chapters 42-67 of Dragon Ball Super, promises to elevate the heroes to new heights of power. The saga is packed with catastrophic confrontations and introduces a host of fresh characters that pose significant threats. As the anime adaptation of the Moro Saga draws nearer, fans are particularly eager to witness some of the most thrilling battles.

Moro’s Galactic Bandit Brigade boasts entirely new character designs while also nodding to familiar extraterrestrial beings from across the multiverse. For instance, Bikkura Quoitur, a formidable Metalman, is reminiscent of Universe 6’s Auta Magetta. Like his fellow Metalmen, Bikkura Quoitur is a behemoth weighing over 1000 tons, delivering powerful blows, and possessing the ability to generate magma.

Iconic Dragon Ball Duo Tien & Chiaotzu Outsmart Bikkura Quoitur

Moro’s Galactic Bandit Brigade features some completely original character designs, but it also includes some clever callbacks to aliens previously encountered throughout the multiverse. Bikkura Quoitur is a Metalman who isn’t very dissimilar from Universe 6’s Auta Magetta. Bikkura Quoitur, like all Metalmen, weighs over 1000 tons, packs a hefty punch, and can even produce magma.

However, they’re also, ironically, very thin-skinned and prone to shutting down when insulted. Tien and Chiaotzu don’t get much to do in the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga, but their clash with Bikkura Quoitur is a fun Dragon Ball fight. Tien struggles to come up with good insults, so it’s Chiaotzu who runs his mouth to take down the Metalman.

Dragon Ball’s Krillin Enters the No-Spin Zone With Yunba

Krillin is a formidable Dragon Ball Z fighter who often doesn’t get his due. The massive jailbreak that Moro causes becomes a satisfying opportunity for Dragon Ball‘s supporting players to step up and do their part. Krillin shows tremendous progress during the Tournament of Power, which he follows with an impressive performance against Yunba of the Galactic Bandit Brigade.

Yunba’s secret weapon is that he can spin at incredible speeds. This Dragon Ball Super battle has creative choreography, including Krillin’s use of the Destructo Disc Hexa Blade variation. This fight in the Moro Saga is a war of attrition that slowly overwhelms Yunba and leads to his defeat.

Master Roshi’s Ultra Instinct Moment Buys Time For Goku

There’s an unpredictable quality to so many of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga’s battles that turn ancillary fights into rewarding Dragon Ball character studies. When Miza, Iwaza, and Kikaza, a trio of Galactic Bandit Brigade members, try to jump Master Roshi and Krillin, Goku’s master leans into trusting his senses to activate a rudimentary version of Ultra Instinct.

Any battle in which Roshi surpasses expectations and excels with Ultra Instinct is going to be a Dragon Ball highlight. However, Roshi’s upgrade pushes the three criminals to fuse into a gigantic menace. Although the Miza Iwaza Kikasa Fusion gains the advantage against Roshi and Krillin, Goku arrives to save the day when it matters most.

Merus Pays The Ultimate Price To Weaken Moro’s Resistance

Merus, a Galactic Patrol member who is also revealed to be an Angel, is one of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga’s most interesting characters. Merus is responsible for many of the Galactic Patrol’s greatest victories, but he also helps Goku master Ultra Instinct and hone his divine abilities. As an Angel, Merus is prohibited from interfering in mortal matters under Angel Law.

Merus attempts to circumvent this rule by using a fraction of his power to help neutralize Moro. Using speed over brute force, Merus destroys Moro’s crystals, which allow the Planet-Eater to copy abilities and gain greater strength. As an act of retribution, Merus is erased from existence after his final contributions against Moro. It’s a beautiful sequence, and Goku’s subsequent victory against Moro wouldn’t be possible without Merus’ help here first.

Seven-Three Copies Cell By Stealing Piccolo & Gohan’s Ultimate Moves

Dragon Ball Super‘s Seven-Three is especially terrifying and could potentially become an apocalyptic presence in the right context. Seven-Three can copy and store up to three separate individuals’ abilities, which Gohan and Piccolo learn the hard way the first time they go up against the Android. Watching Seven-Three use Piccolo’s Super Giant Form, Special Beam Cannon, and Hellzone Grenade is absolutely chilling and harkens back to the horror of Dragon Ball Z‘s Cell Saga when Cell used everyone’s power against them.

Seven-Three is a natural with these skills, but he’s still no match for someone like Gohan, who has trained with Piccolo his entire life. While their first match is interrupted without a proper conclusion, a Seven Three vs Gohan and Piccolo rematch happens a few months later. Gohan and Piccolo’s flawless teamwork against Seven-Three is their best material in Dragon Ball Super‘s manga outside their Super Hero Saga showcase.

Buu’s Overpowered Supreme Kai Transformation Almost Kills Moro

Buu is such a strong Dragon Ball character that the series often creates excuses for why he’s unable to participate in battle. Buu has missed more fights than he’s been involved in, yet his most memorable moment in Dragon Ball Super is when he courageously challenges Moro. Moro’s area of expertise is magic, which confounds Dragon Ball‘s ki-based heroes, but not Buu.

Dragon Ball‘s Buu pairs his incredible regenerative properties with his unpredictable fighting style against Moro. Buu actually gains the upper hand when the dormant Grand Supreme Kai inside him temporarily commandeers his body. Dragon Ball conjures extreme suspense as Grand Supreme Kai tries to re-seal Moro, only for the malevolent Planet-Eater to exploit the wish-granting power of the Dragon Balls.

Moro’s Power Destroys Saganbo’s Body From the Inside Out

There are plenty of low-level Galactic Bandit Brigade members who are easily defeated in Dragon Ball Super‘s Moro Saga. Moro’s second-in-command may be a cruel criminal, but he’s no slouch either, thanks to enhanced durability, telekinesis, and destructive ki attacks. However, Saganbo steadily receives energy infusions from Moro that boost this strength to even greater heights.

Saganbo does swift work against Super Saiyan 3 Goku before he’s collectively challenged by Androids 17 and 18, Gohan, and Piccolo. It’s a surreal sight to watch so many powerful Dragon Ball characters attempt to stop Saganbo in his tracks. Moro, impatient and tired of these interruptions, goes too far with Saganbo’s power boosts. Saganbo, eager to take on Perfected Super Saiyan Blue Goku, destroys his body under the strain, disturbing even Goku.

Android 17 & 18 Hit the Ultimate Team Up Against Moro

Many heroes can’t even attack Moro because his magic drains ki energy. This puts Androids 17 and 18 at an advantage since they operate on infinite energy that’s not ki-based. Because of their unique immunity to Moro’s magic, Dragon Ball‘s iconic Android duo provides essential support against Moro’s Galactic Bandit Brigade.

However, their best work is against Moro himself, during a period when Goku desperately needs to recover. This is the Android 17 showcase that fans had been waiting for ever since his Tournament of Power victory. Android 17 and 18’s contributions are somewhat of a means to an end, but their fight is beautifully orchestrated with stunning visuals by Toyotarou.

Vegeta’s Dramatic Return Turns the Tables on Moro

Vegeta experiences some of the most rewarding character development in Dragon Ball Super‘s Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga. Moro’s incredible power pushes Vegeta to train on Planet Yardrat, where he learns Forced Spirit Fission. This technique is perfect against Moro’s magical power drains because it allows Vegeta to redistribute energy. Vegeta’s climactic return from Yardrat is a standout moment in Dragon Ball‘s Moro Saga that fans won’t forget anytime soon.

Vegeta makes brilliant use of Forced Spirit Fission and takes on a fiery assault from Moro that’s a breath of fresh air. Some Dragon Ball fans dismiss Vegeta’s showdown with Moro as another case where the Saiyan succumbs to the “jobber status” trope. Vegeta doesn’t defeat Moro in a one-on-one duel, but it’s unfair to dismiss his work here. Goku, who picks up the slack, wouldn’t be able to overpower Moro without Vegeta’s Forced Spirit Fission assistance.

Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku Battles a Planet-Sized Problem

It’s not unusual for Goku to be the one responsible for defeating the final boss in any given Dragon Ball Saga. Goku’s final clash against Moro surpasses expectations because this spectacle doubles as the moment that Goku finally masters Perfected Ultra Instinct. This moment has been coming ever since Ultra Instinct Sign made its debut in the Tournament of Power. Goku demonstrates unprecedented skills and strength when he creates a giant energy avatar that can properly fight against Moro, who just so happens to have fused with the Earth.

It’s a jarring sight to see Moro weaponizing Goku’s home against him. The heightened scale here is grandiose, even by Dragon Ball standards. Goku has never seemed more powerful, but his victory is empowered by energy from the entire planet, including Uub, culminating in the perfect way to bring the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga to an end.
