2025 was a monumental year for anime, thanks to the theatrical release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle, as well as Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc — both breaking global box office records. Infinity Castle, in particular, grossed $780M worldwide since its initial release in Japan on July 18, 2025.
Although Infinity Castle failed to become the first anime movie to reach $1B at the global box office, the entire film franchise — including the breakout 2020 release, Mugen Train — has already surpassed $1.3 billion. Furthermore, Infinity Castle became the first Japanese movie to gross over 100 billion yen ($644 million) worldwide.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is Part 1 of a three-part film series that will conclude the anime adaptation of the Shonen Jump manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. Although a release date for Part 2 has yet to be officially announced, a 2027 release window has been strongly hinted at by various sources.
Demon Slayer is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Netflix. A U.S. streaming release for Infinity Castle has yet to be officially announced, nor has a home media physical or digital release.
“It is the Taisho Period in Japan,” Crunchyroll’s description reads. “Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a ‘demon slayer’ so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.”
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Mugen Train is legally available to stream for free in the U.S. in both original Japanese audio and English-dubbed versions (and you don’t need a Crunchyroll subscription to watch it).
