$40,000 Worth of Vital Rescue Equipment Stolen from SES Depot

Thieves made off with $40,000 of crucial SES rescue equipment after breaking into a facility in Melbourne this week.

Authorities report that a break-in occurred at the VICSES Essendon Unit located on Rutherford Street, Aberfeldie, around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25.

Four unidentified individuals, believed to be male and wearing masks, arrived at the site, scaled a fence, and gained entry to the premises.

Upon entry, they targeted the equipment storage area behind the emergency service vehicles, making off with valuable items such as chainsaws, power tools, harnesses, and radios.

The culprits initially departed around 1:10 a.m., but two of them returned approximately an hour later, at 2:30 a.m., to steal additional tools.

According to police, the stolen equipment is valued at over $40,000 and is essential for volunteers who respond to emergencies like floods and storms.

Detectives have now released images of four men they wish to speak to in relation to the break-in.

The first is described as Caucasian in appearance, wearing a black t-shirt with text reading “Fear of God Essentials” on the front, a black baseball cap with a motif on the front and text on the left-hand side, light purple or red shorts, and light grey Adidas Gazelle style shoes.

The second is described as Caucasian in appearance, wearing a black hoodie with white text on the back, black shorts and black and white TN Nike shoes.

The third is described as Caucasian in appearance, wearing a grey hoodie, blue gloves, light blue pants and black running shoes.

The fourth is described as Caucasian in appearance, wearing a black t-shirt with a white cross logo on the back, black (possibly Champion branded pants) and white high-top shoes.
