The individual has been revealed to be 72-year-old Gary Hallam.
In a parallel development, a 49-year-old man from Aldinga voluntarily appeared at a police station, leading to his arrest.
Following his arrest, he was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Authorities secured his hands in cuffs and covered them with paper bags, likely to maintain the integrity of any evidence.
The man is now facing a murder charge and has been denied bail.
Police believe the incident was not random and the two men are known to each other.
Investigators were on the scene for much of yesterday, with park residents noticing the police presence.
“[It’s] busy,” one woman said.
“Cars, detectives, police officers, much bigger than I expected it to be.”
The 49-year-old man will appear at Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.
