A second childcare centre in Sydney has gone up in flames just days after another was the target of a firebombing attack.

Emergency services were called to the Play and Learn centre at Excelsior Avenue, Castle Hill at about 1.30am on Monday after reports of a fire.

Fire crews put out the blaze, which caused minor damage to the building.

No injuries have been reported, NSW Police confirmed.

“Officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said in a statement.

Detectives and forensic officers are looking into whether it may be linked to another blaze at a Play and Learn centre in Turramurra last week.

Emergency services were called to the Turramurra location at about 4.25am on Friday and found the centre engulfed in flames.

The blaze was extinguished, revealing minor damage to the building.

Police say a group of masked men had smashed through the front door, poured petrol in the foyer and lit it on fire.

“No words, I’m just in shock. It just really hurts,” Play to Learn head of operations Jemma Quinlan told 9News of the fire on Friday.

“At the crux of it, we’re here to serve the community and today we can’t.”

The Turramurra centre was declared a crime scene and closed on Friday.

“I’m feeling a little bit scared, what is happening here,” parent Princi Chauhel said.
