A man who was found on the tarmac of Perth airport has been charged with trespass.

The 33-year-old man from the West Australian city was intercepted by airline staff on Tuesday night.

He had been in bushland surrounding the airport, before allegedly entering the airport grounds and reaching the tarmac.

He was arrested by Australian Federal Police and later pleaded guilty in court to trespassing on Commonwealth land.

The accused faces a maximum $3130 fine if found guilty. He is scheduled to next front court on May 25 for sentencing.

AFP Detective Acting Inspector Aden Jama said it was dangerous for unauthorised people to be on the tarmac around aircraft and they also put workers at risk.
